I personally love this game and play it daily, after learning the moves and stuff, I've found it to be much more enjoyable.
then you don't play it online
also, i realized that most fights online must consist of ryu/ken vs. ryu/ken, i mean honestly that shit has got to get old fast doesn't it? like 80% of people i play are ryu or ken, they have to play each other at some point too don't they o_O
Yeah, this game is pretty awful online.... I only play friend match at this point and hope its good enough to consider "practice".
That's because most spam the shit out of dragon/tiger punches to interrupt combos. Hell, I don't do combos because shit's annoying and it's complete bs they can get away w/ that.
One of my friends was supposedly gonna kick my ass with his Sagat, and he was used to that tripe. Needless to say, he couldn't do shit and beat him silly. Off line feels more "natural," w/e that is.
When they try to interrupt, just use two jabs and block. They'll shoryuken, and you'll have an open opportunity to pound their face in. Once they wisen up and stop trying to spam uppercuts, you can use your blocked jabs as tick throws.
Or just play offline.
The online isn't bad because of the SRKs....if your points are high enough then you elimate that.
It sucks because the frames/input are completely off.
how do you deal with ppl who neutral jump all day against abel?
i swear, ppl dont want to deal with mixup gimmicks. im ashamed to admit i lost to a ultra fuckin scrub yesterday lol. all he did was jump back/taunt/jump back over.. and over.. and over. and over. my abel couldnt get in at all. the crouching fierce would trade in his advantage.
but my balrog had something to say about that. he jumped at me like 4 times because he wasnt used to a normal anti air, lol. so i got my revenge. but still. having to lose someone that bad with abel made me feel like shitmy abel's usually not that bad lol.
my top 3 ppl is
1. blanka
2. balrog
3. ryu
i like playing balrog the most tho. i can be lazy and relax with him. he never has to jump (but i do anyways to confuse ppl)and he can stand his ground so good. i even like playing against shotos/sagats. the only ppl that give me trouble with him are sims and a couple giefs and seth. but seth is a killer for all my characters.
but lately i been handing sim ok. i never mind breaking my charge, and i dont mind walking forward trying to get in close. its just that teleport crossup that gives me trouble lol.
blanka is probably my best, but i gotta work my ass off to win with him and use every trick i got up my sleeve. such a pain, but hes my most consistent guy. i just wish he had more combos than the 5 hit crossup
but man, i hate to interrupt my combos on purpose to bait a spamming SRK player lol
where i live, i pray for 3 bar+ connections ugh
I do this: Inflict enough damage and wait for the person to come to me. If they like to spam fireballs/jump back, good for them as I'll FA projectiles and watch em jump. It's funny to see them try to attack when time is running out.
Gief vs my Rog, I jump galore. Most people just want to 360 and obviously ultra you. It can be avoided by jumpin'. Rog's jumping hk hits Gief in the head and it's safe vs lariats if timed properly. Don't let him get close to you, have always the headbutt charging as you should and push him back with lp. straight.
I find fights vs Abel quite easy, or my opponents really suck. I basically rush em down and hit lp like a mofo and stops all his grabs![]()
i think abel and blanka are in favor of rog's matchups lol
he destroys them both pretty good![]()
Jump+Fierce Punch (hit punch on the way up, not on the way down) stuffs whatever a person is trying to do with neutral jump. It's also god-like against Dhalsim/Seth players.
Also, a well timed lk wheel kick beats all jumps. However, you have to anticipate the jump in order to stuff your opponent with the lk wheel kick. (meaning it can't be performed on reaction)
I have been trying to score a used copy of 360 version so I can play you guys but in ebay I keep getting outbid in the last minute while I'm at work ;o
(Also I'm unwilling to pay more than $20 cause that would be more than what gamestop sold last time)
A good gief will do a lot of cross up splashes and/or try to bait the headbutts because they can be easily punished by a spd. If they start blocking the crossups, thats when you ultra or spd on wakeup.
Best way I've seen to counterattack is to try to bait lariats and then time rog's charge up punches to hit as he comes out of the lariat. Hold your ground and c mp jumpins or headbutt them. Always watch for the EX green hand and be ready to punish with headbutt > ultras.
Like you said, jumping hk can hit when lariating so definitely jump backwards and hk if facing a spammy gief.
I've got to be at a NFL player's house in 2 hours for SF4 get together...someone get on here and beat my ass. I haven't played this in weeks.
For those that don't know, Steam has SFIV for $19.99 this weekend special (PC version).
Picked up the PC version cause I figured why not, let's me have a fighting game handy without having to pack out a TV or my PS3 (can just play on my laptop with pretty much maxed out settings since the game has relatively low system reqs)
