Minneapolis resident here... fuck it's cold today. I've lived in Minnesota the majority of my life (born and raised in northern Minnesota where it's even colder) so really Minneapolis isn't horrific comparatively.

I'd have to agree with the person who says they would prefer the cold over heat though... I would too, minus the snow. Ideally I'd like to live some place where it was 30-80 degrees all year round, not too hot or cold... like the pacific northwest. But I'm not really a big fan of Seattle in the time I spend there. I hate cities built on hills. Any suggestions?

But by far, the worst thing is the traffic which comes with snow/cold. Where in Minneapolis do you live Yuri? It took me 30 minutes to go a mile in Uptown yesterday. No joke.

Because yeah, that's always horrible, especially after a big snowstorm. I hate how people seem to forget how to drive every year, it's not like this is new (unless they just moved here but that's a small minority).

30-80 is actually about what I'll be dealing with since I'm moving to San Francisco (in a year or so, d'oh). It's very temperate there, the winters aren't that warm, but the summers aren't too hot either. I've been there a couple of times in spring and it was around 60-80 depending. I hear it gets warmer if you're not in the city proper and live in the suburbs, though - which I'm hoping is true, I like my 80's.

It's funny you say that, I'm doing the exact same thing - I really don't like my job but I work for a company that has a major presence on the West Coast, and I figure, if I just stick with them for the next year or so I can transfer somewhere warmer and find a job I like once I'm settled in.

I take the 4 every day to/from work... I live in a house by the Loon Grocery. Hennepin is just terrible when there's a blizzard and I agree with you, it's like people forget how to drive whenever it's snowing. I'm just glad they are all done doing the construction around LynLake, I couldn't imagine driving around there in poor weather conditions on a Saturday night.

Are you really sure you want to live in San Fran? It's a thrilling city and all, but more so if you live on the outside, then travel inward. Although some people will surely disagree, a lot of the residents I've spoken with wish they'd moved somewhere right outside of the city, then went inside for all their business.

It's also significantly more expensive if you're in San Fran proper than it is if you live on the other side of the bridge. I might be moving there eventually, since nowadays it's better for gaming journalists to be in San Fran rather than Los Angeles -- it's boring around here anyways -- and my career is improving.

Plus San Fran is pretty awesome, but as aforementioned, I wouldn't wanna live in it -- I'd just wanna be in close driving distance of it.

Lols kentucky weather is so fucked up. kentucky is like fuckin England in the winter time anymore. all it ever does is rain. havent seen a decent snowfall in years. summers here suck too usually gettin into the upper 90's but with shit ton of humidity. im talkion about the kind of humidity that once you walk outside you get swamp-ass. would love to move farther up north, possibly back to cincinnati or dayton

Ah yeah, I should have been more specific, I plan on living in Berkeley. It seemed to have the best ratio of price to comfort, plus I like the college town atmosphere.

I've always preferred hot weather to cold, though. I'd rather strip down than bundle up, give me 100 degrees over -30 any day. The buildings make it worse imo, the corral the wind in between the buildings and make them rip through there in an intense manner. I found out this difference when working in St Louis then being having to visit Nebraska.
