So, if Boldin really is out, how much will he command next year? We have about $25 mil to work with under cap, but we have so many holes to fill I don't think we could get him even if we wanted to.

Not to mention Bidwell is notoriously cheap. He signed Fitz but I don't see him doing that again for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

As long as he is Owner mediocrity is always going to be one door knock away.

i dont think the cards can afford to sign him anyway. part of the reason they wouldnt trade him for a first rounder (or two), they wouldnt be able to pay the rooks.

Small market teams have it tough. I don't know why though, Cardinals are the team the Cowboys fans watch when Romo fucks up a playoff game.

Cowboys fans will watch any team that isnt the Eagles, Redskins, Giants, Packers, or Bears.

Speaking of the Cowboys...seems the mustache isn't the only that has his sources. A local writer (Calvin Watkins) just painted quite a nice picture of the Dallas locker room:

Sources: Dallas Cowboys often tardy, undisciplined in '08 | Dallas Cowboys News | Sports News | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News

(because we can't go a week without something like this lol)

I saw that on the scroll this morning on ESPN. I have a friend that works the scroll from time to time, and he hates the cowboys too. So anytime I see cowboys drama on the scroll, I figure its him.

And LOL @ 16 pages of comments to that article.

Actually, the mustache telepathically reported this story through said 3rd party reporter. The mustache can only report good things.

    Werder's Wiki

    Ed Werder
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ed Werder (born May 3, 1960 in Longmont, Colorado) is a Dallas-based bureau reporter for ESPN, primarily reporting on stories about the NFL. Since joining ESPN in 1998, Werder has become a staple in their NFL coverage, as he contributes to shows such as SportsCenter, NFL Live, Sunday NFL Countdown (from a game site) and Monday Night Countdown (from the Monday Night Football site). Werder is best known for his work for ESPN, first covering the Terrell Owens and Bill Parcells saga with the Dallas Cowboys.

    Before ESPN

Prior to joining ESPN, Werder was a NFL corespondent for CNNSI on CNN's Sports Tonight and CNN's Sunday NFL Preview from its launch in 1996 until 1998. He was a Dallas Cowboys beat writer for the Dallas Morning News from 1992 to 1996 and the Fort Worth Star Telegram in 1989. He also served as the NFL beat writer for The Orlando Sentinel in 1991 and was a Denver Broncos beat writer for the Boulder Daily Camera from 1984 to 1989. During that time was also was an NFL reporter for The National, from 1990 to 1991, and a correspondent for Sports Illustrated from 1987 to 1995.

While at The Dallas Morning News, Werder won several awards for chronicling the demolished relationship between Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the then head coach Jimmy Johnson. Werder has a 1982 journalism and communications graduate of the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. He is married with two children.

    Trivia

    * Werder is one of the few personalities on ESPN to sport a full moustache.

    Bolded for the win.

He'd fit in decently with NY (g). We currently have a vacancy in the primadona receiver position.

You guys that are calling Boldin a premadona are ridiculous.

Take into consideration every NFL player for the last 25 years that has complained about contracts, and Boldin has the absolute most reason to actually be complaining. They should have done him right in the first place, and Boldin is a freaking soldier compared to bums like TO and Chad Johnson.

Up until Boldin's facial injury (even a couple of games after he came back) Boldin has outshined Fitzgerald like every year. He has blown away most other #1 WRs, and he has to share numbers with Fitz.

Fitz got a contract giving him like 10.4 mil a year, and Boldin is making not even a third of that. If you do your job better than someone else at work, would you want to make <33% of his salary? No.

Sorry for making a bad bandwagon joke.

The fact is, the way the NYC mayor has taken interest, Plax is doing jail time. The only thing that would keep Bloomberg's attention away from Plax, would have more to do with the mayor trying to keep public favor while attepmting to rewrite city law and go for a third term.

Boldin would fill a need at NYG(as well as a number of other teams), and yes he is a great player. Put up great stats for someone who missed 25% of the season, and has produced well over the duration of his career.

NYG have a big group of free agents to contend with though. And it would be hard to estimate exactly how much salary cap room they have to play with at the moment.

I'd love to pick up boldin, but I really like the way Curtis and Jackson have played so I think we'll focus more on our O-line FA losses.

The teams I could see Boldin at in 2010 (They aren't releasing him this year unless a team gives up two
1st round picks, which isn't happening likely almost ever again in the NFL) are as follows:

    1. Philly (If McNabb indeed stays)
    2. TN (Has the 2nd most salary cap room in the league. Amazing how our GM can spend the least and have the best record - amazing future ahead!! )
    3. Ravens (Expect this team to go through an overhaul over the next 2 years - a lot of those bigtime Defensive players will no longer be on this team). This likely isn't a team he would want to play for, but would fork up the most cash. Who wants to live in Baltimore?
    4. Miami (Depends on how they draft in 2009)
    5. Indianapolis (I don't think Marvin Harrison will be back next year anything short of a HUGE paycut - they likely won't sign Bob Sanders to a huge contract considering he can't even play 50% of a season, and there will be at least 1 team out there ready to give him 45+ mil)
    6. Tampa Bay - If they lose Antonio Bryant this offseason, look for them to go after Boldin in 2010 or even offer something like a 1st(2009) + 3rd(2009) + 3rd (2010) this offseason.

Edit - Info on Bob Sanders contract anyone? Not sure what he is currently paid/length

Isn't the end of 2009 when the current CBA ends? If they don't end up renewing that there'd be plenty of teams looking to pick him up. It'd just be dependent on who has more money in the bank D: I'd really hate to see an uncapped NFL though, so hopefully they'll end up fixing that in the next year
