Sure, Id be all for allowing relationships openly in my unit if they never actually got deployed/saw combat. But go ahead and continue to gloss over the rest of my comments if it suites your lack of argument better.

Your argument "thus far" seems to be loosely relevant to Don't Ask Don't Tell.

Let me clarify, if we were arguing for a complete ban of homosexuals due to the "difficulties" they cause in the military, what you're arguing might have been relevant, but since Don't Ask Don't tell isn't about that, it isn't. Why? Because it doesn't stop nor has it ever stopped gays from joining the military and getting their non conformist asses killed because they were staring at someone else's conformist ass.

DADT requires my soldiers to not act (at least openly) on same sex relationships in environments where I have already spent alot of time/money/assets to segregate by sexes and keep mission focus.

Aboloshing DADT now requires me to determine a method for housing/seperating these individuals from their sexual counterparts and adds yet another open social dynamic with a multitude of destructive possibilities to an environment where these things can kill.

How is that loosely relevant to DADT?

Why does it seem the issues with gays/gender in the Military have more to do with lack of discipline and professionalism?

People can be professionals and still be human. These guys/gals are away from everything/everyone they know/love, in a stressful environment, and have been cut off of sex/alchohol. One part of being a good leader is ensuring your soldiers arent put in compremising situations. As stated before, if I housed a female in an all male bay, that would be putting her in a comprimising situation.

And as said before, not every soldier/sailor/airmen/marine is a college educated well rounded professional. Many of these guys barely graduated highschool (or didnt), and the right decision isnt always the one they will make when tempted. As a leader, it is my responsibility to keep that temptation out of their faces so they can get their job done and come back home alive.

Im less concerned with my soldiers doing violence to these people and more concerned with inter-unit relationships and housing of members of the opposite sex(identity) with each other.

Proper education programs in the army can work out any prejudice issues, and that isnt really my concern.

It seems that what you want can be better achieved via the rigorous banning of any and all homosexuals that attempt to join or are in the military.

No, it doesn't require you to do that at all. Not in the slightest. You do not have to separate openly gay soldiers from openly straight soldiers in housing, showers, bathrooms, etc.

All the other countries that allow open homosexuals in their militaries do not do this, and do not report problems from not doing so. Why do you think that the U.S. military would be any different?

Serious question - why do you feel that such separation is necessary, when the other instances of integration have been reported as a non-issue?

I'm in the army. I've been deployed. Guess what the majority of people think about homosexuality in the military? They don't give a fuck. If you can't keep your soldiers under control if you fear for a homosexual's safety then there's already a problem with leadership to begin with. On the other hand, people are going to have relationships with others regardless of the situation. Ridiculous how many Sergeant Majors, Officers, Senior NCO's I've seen have no problem sleeping with privates.

I don't see what the problem is. So what if some gays get killed because they're too busy getting hard-ons in the war zone. I'm sure someone will be happy about that.
