Am i the only guy that thinks 15k/hr is still reasonable? Maybe that's just my low standard from having such friggin crowded camps on bahamut![]()
3 hours of effective meritting should be no less then 8 merits!
As long as I get around 2 merits an hour its all fine and dandy!
Meh as long as I have some fun and get a couple of merits out it its fine!
I don't care about my exp over time, merits come when merits come!
I never join a party for the sole purpose of meritting alone!
I refrain from sharing my point of view!
Other.

15k-20k/hr is normal imo
I have no qualms about leaving a shit or slow party.
it depends. if i am with people i like, 15-20k hr is fine because i'm probably chatting away, no one gets mad if i thunder III away some extra mp when vert is up, no idiot is waking my slept links, etc.
if i have no one in the party to talk to, we better be getting 25-30k/hr or i'm going to be bored very quickly. and/or decide that sitting there staring at the screen intently is not worth my time for these idiots. either will mean i'll invent some reason to gtfo.
Since I've maxed out most of my merits, I've relaxed and don't merit nearly as much as I used to.When I meirt now, I mostly do it for fun. I did grind out a ton of merits when I was capping STR, but even then I preferred to merit with friends on Zhayolm trolls.
Now I mostly pick up merits in ENMs and Nyzul. I'm in no rush to cap my Sange recast.
15~20k an hour for me and if you are visibly holding the party back from closing in on the 25k we'd get if you didnt suck you're on my blacklist.( aka going afk after engaging constantly, not wsing at a decent speedaka holding tp to 150~200 or higher on a consitent basis, just plain sucking, etc, not having merits done yet doesnt count since if they had merits finished they wouldnt have jioned a merit in the first place)
I'm a BLU, I don't need merit parties. I can get a good 10-11k/hr w/o band off imps if there aren't too many people around. Since PLD and BLU are my only 75's right now, I've soloed the bulk of my merits.
I chose the "Meh as long as I have some fun and get a couple of merits out it its fine! " option. I really can't stand parties which are "birds or disband" because I find MJS to be a lot more fun since I can eat something other than throw away food. I only ever enjoy bird camp is when I'm not partying with a bunch of bandwagon Sams that can barely pull hate off me while I eat pecking flurries all day. The most annoying part of those kind of parties is when I realize that I went through the better part of a stack of shihei in less than an hour for alright XP.
15-20 is what I consider very nice. I'll take less with friends looking to get buffers on non conventional merit jobs, vs some we're-so-great pickup. I'm also not going to be bard in pickups and would rather not have one than play one if i'm in that mood.
I'd just as easily solo on my BLM and take far less because I can AFK and pay attention to TV or vent or something else and don't keep track.
Beyond 20/hr can only be sustained for so long before someone needs to piss/answerdoor/orderpizza/ohmyeyesarebleeding, etc. That XP rate is rarely fun for mages/brds - it's work at that point.
Then again I have almost capped merits and haven't meritted more than perhaps 20 hours tops - all in LS - since WOTG at least.
You missed a higher tier of xp/hour. I'm not saying I'm in it, but I know it's there.
If I get a couple of merits an hour, I'm happy. That's mostly because I pretty much never have time to merit, so when I do I'd like at least some effeciency. Campaign is not the be-all end-all answer to buffers/merits!![]()
Where's the "All my merits come from Campaigning" option?
Edit: Ha ha person above me. :D
i get my buffers in campaign now.
if i merit its only when someone in linkshell/flist asks me too.
can't take pickup ptys with silly gimp DD's.
Despite the fact that I still need merits and have merits I want to switch around I just can't tolerate meriting with people I don't know or who aren't in my LS. I want at least some assurance that the party will be worth my time and money (for food, tools, etc.) Otherwise I'd rather chill by myself in Campaign or do something else entirely.
Fast, 2 Brds, wanna get a bunch of merits in as short as possible.... otherwise I'd rather go campaign, it's more fun, more relaxed, and I've still got 1 existing, and 1 future AN piece that I need to pick up.
Fuckin around in Garlaige and reading a book between seeing "A campaign battle has begun." pop up, then go pick mobs off waves, lather rinse repeat til they go away, pow 3000~5000 Exp.
I usually wont merit unless the DD partner is parse-worthy, people you can just know you'd outparse them by looking is a snoozefest. of course id never merit if it's only 1 brd. 2BRD or BRD+COR only. 29k+/hr is just a bonus![]()
i simply dont merit. i dont find a need to merit. I have one 75 job, and i am happy with it. through MMM, assaults, and link shell events i always find myself at capped exp anyhow, with limit points coming in as well.
I do all while i am doing what i consider to be what the game is all about, helping my friends.
I do not consider merit parties to be wha the game is about. So, i just dont do them. Its pretty liberating actualy. I dont need to put up with all this 20+ or go home bs. I dont need to compete with other players for prime merit camps either. I use my WS set for events, i dont get peices of gear for meriting alone.
To be brutaly honest, i think merit parties are dumb. Most jobs only need a couple things merited to be considered workable, if not entirely ready to go. And that is not hard to accomplish without a merit party.
3 hours should be 10 merits
and yes, I'm totally completely serious (and yes, I've done it too)
I am nowhere near enthusiastic about meriting as any of those options portray.
