Check out your local craigslist/kijiji, got some good deals on there for my CPU and GPU. Got a QX9650 for 400 CAD and ATI 4780x2 2GB for the same amount, both new but OEM. The person I got the CPU from turned out to be a guy in my old high school that I knew and remembered. And the guy I got the GPU from was really cool, he had a PC shop but now has a bar (need to hit that up rofl) and his friend works in designing the cards for ATI.

Still trying to figure out which m/b to get... Sticking with Asus though.

That's all I saw the first time I read this. Damn you. Wish I could move out of this freakin' country, there's too much to see out there. I've traveled internationally, but not overseas -- always on land to the north and the south -- although what I've seen of North America was impressive enough. There's just too much world to be stuck in one place for your entire life.

Anyway, I do love Craigslist. Never bought computer parts there, but I've gotten plenty of other things. Living in Los Angeles does have its advantages. The dual ATI cards you snagged are really nice. I used to have a nice SLI board, but it was fried when a power surge blew up the PSU. Fortunately, none of the other components were damaged.

At this point, I plan on getting a beefier PSU -- closer to 1000W, something strong that'll last me a while -- and a new single card. Eh, probably a new CPU before that. Not anytime soon, though. Gonna be months.

I went to see the Rookies when I was younger, it's so weird. You see movies all the time and when you're actually there you think it's some kind of movie because it looks too good to be real.

I got the 850W from corsair, I've heard it's pretty much made for 1000W but they say its 850W so they can keep high efficiency. I was thinking about going SLI, but wanted to support the Canadians =P That and I don't want to pay hundreds more for slight increase in FPS

If you're getting a new CPU, you're best bet is the new i7s, they're the best right now and pretty cheap compared to the upper end QX. but there isn't a lot of support for them yet, so you'll have to look for a lot of specifics that cost more, like a x58 chipset, triple channel DDR3, cpu heatsink, etc.

In all seriousness, you guys have made me feel that way a bit, reminding me of all the hilarious shit that used to go on in Pandemonium.

This thread definitely accomplished what it was supposed to: I have a feeling of what to do with myself and why I'm going to keep playing, or at least why I'm going to give it another shot. On top of that, we got to have fun talking about the olden days. Huzzah!

And on the topic of chilling, maybe you and I can actually hang out sometime, Miz. My mother moved to North Carolina a number of years ago and lives in Lenoir. Pretty long drive, but I don't know anyone there and I'll probably be visiting in the middle of the year.

Fun fact: when I was a little kid, crossing the mile high bridge at Grandfather Mountain traumatized me, and from then on, I couldn't be in a really high place without fainting. Didn't apply to airplanes though, for some odd reason. So, in more recent years, I went back there and crossed the bridge again and conquered my fear. Now I'm not nearly as scared of heights. Fuck yeah.

I still have the SS of him jacking the Osode from us when we gave him a chance in Caff... it was one of those moments you could see coming from a mile away. Yeah, im guessing per capita, Pandy had one of the highest DB rates around back then. But there were some really cool people too.

I used to xp with Kaneda alot... he and I used to do some epic grinding back in the day... it was brutal when you had Natedog was your only RDM and getting his melee on in the middle of PTing in the Tree. He would save up 300tp and Spirits and just rip up hate. You know you are bad when the term for being a bad rdm or melee rdm just becomes known as being "Natedog".
