Ok about the start of thread konan i have to say that i feel the same as you atm kohnan.

(i know i will get hated for that, but this is how i feel). Latly i havn't been in a mood to log on alot, i log to talk with friends and that's about it, Bismarck is a good server, end game is pretty much easier then different server, like Cerberus. But it seems to have lot more retard then cerberus lol.

I know that retardness is on all servers, but sadly it affects the LS i am in atm. I am a culprit too, but having people almost blist someone because he refuse to buy a charger mantle (lolwtfcharger mantle), someone getting pissy when all PLD told him to use Valor surcoat instead of Assault Breastplate, but he refuse due to loldef on breastplate (wtf) and people getting lazy, about camping stuff, suppose to be end game but people refuse to go to fafnir, aka log after the window ends and blah blah is kinda depressing.

I have been wondering bout Jumping servers again , but i have some friends on Bismarck that do no wanna jump and that i have trouble saying good bye. But i have a friend that might jump server, that i might follow (that LS accepted me, i just wanna think about it).

But yeah logging in latly seems like a chore, and i don't know if it's just about the LS, or just me lol

    but i feel ya kohnan

All this reminiscing and no one mentions me? Though I guess with the way this thread has gone, that's a good thing lol

I gotta give props to my man shuyen. Don't think he plays anymore, but damn that kid had no attention span. We could zone in to somewhere to hit a ??? for a CS, and he'd run off in the wrong direction going "Let's see if Eba is up! We can totally take him!" or some shit.

Anyway ko, I'm sure you'd be welcome back in Kara if you're interested =P Sounds like you've got some bad memories of some past members though so idk. As for salvage, my group took a break a while back to do Nyzul, but whenever we get back into it I'll hit you up (if you're still around).

I just came back from a 3 year "break" and I've felt the opposite. I want to do end game-ish stuff, but I don't want to play for 18 hours a day. Due to a mix up, I'm on Fenrir (Short story is I was debating moving to another server and my roommate heard me talking about it, but didn't know the whole story and transferred me.) The problem I have now is that a majority of Fenrir HNMLS are very demanding. Hell, one of them is saying you *have* to play during JP times to claim ground kings. At most, I want to do some Nyzul, Sky, maybe some ZNMs, but I don't want to camp anything. I did it for 2 years straight and it is so very annoying watching Nidhogg pop on last window only to get claimed by another LS.... Every day. Secondly, almost everyyyyyyy HNMLS is very prejudice against certain jobs. Yes, I have a 75 BLM, but I hate the job to the point of never wanting to ever play it and only retaining a few pieces of BLM gear for the absolute "Oh god, we need a BLM or we can't do anything" and they are serious.

However on the flipside, this is also making me not want to play again. I don't expect a Ridill or E. Body, but I'd one day like to wear more then AH-able items and have some cool gear like even an N. body or even an Osode that I never was able to wear even after we killed like 50+ Kirins and were selling them or passing them on to 3rd-4th jobs. I was a career WHM and would like to do something else then be a mage.

I guess. Some linkshells lack guidance and structure. We all started really bad, and we have grown from experience first hand, and second hand from other players. Some people, even leaders of linkshells do keep up or follow theorys, and strategys for some events, or bosses and need to have things brought to their attention.

Just because a linkshell isn't taking down HNMs or doing Ein does not necessarily make them suck ass entry level players. It could be that no one has the confidence to take command over such events or bosses and you could join one of them and be that person.

Not everyone has the leadership trait, and to be honest with you even some of the best skilled linkshells suck balls, not so much in skill and game play but their attitudes and policies. There are still tons of successful shells that use 40+ bodies, but gear about 6 of them. That really is not fair, and is not related to skill in any way.

Agreed. And while it's not all of them that are like this, it's a huge majority. At least the attitudes that is. It's as if they all share the same opinions and those that speak out against it or are wanting to risk something to try something new are lesser players or underskilled. I'm not saying I am great, but I know of quite a few things I was saying a long ass time ago that we should do or try and I was laughed at. Come back today and either it was a fad that came and went and worked well or is still in application today. Sure, I might not have been the first to think of it, but in my little circle, I was the first to bring it up to try.

I can think of a few leadership members that geared themselves out first before even sharing with other members (This is a bit of the minority of them actually). I understand that it's much harder to gear people in this game versus WoW where every boss is guaranteed a few pieces of gear, but to everyone should get a shot at at least some things.

Don't worry Drex, we're mostly mentioning the people who are gone. It'd be weird for us to reminisce about people who are still around, eh? After all, we can just talk to you!

And speaking of that, holy shit at how this thread has grown. I woke up and had a bunch more material to read. Awesome. Can't say I've got a problem with this thread turning into a stroll down memory lane, either, as that means the participants are having a good ol' time. Couldn't ask for much more than that, really.

And on the subject of Nastynyc in particular, I remember once when he was in Valkurm /shouting about something. Think he was offering to help people get items to unlock their subjobs, which would seem uncharacteristic of him according to his rep, but he had his bursts of goodness. He was definitely a weird one, and his name was 100% appropriate. He was one dirty son of a bitch.

Cormega, too. He and Charitwo were amongst the most despised, damn. They're also two people I had the, uh, "fortune" of doing things with more than once. Pretty sure Cormega was in Kara back in the day, for one.

I am pretty sure Gares still plays. Unless someone can correct me, I believe I've seen him as recently as late last year (haven't logged on much myself since then).

Eh, I don't really have bad memories with most people in Kara. Though there were some interesting experiences (e.g., the aforementioned great split between the English-speaking and Japanese members), I pretty much got along with everybody. The only exceptions were some of the infamous folks, like Blind. I left on good terms, and wished Paulee good luck (and fortunately got to talk to him a little bit before he vanished).

What does Kara actually do nowadays, though? As you know, I left when I'd decided to take a lengthy break for the game, and that was when they expanded into a lot more activities. Because I'm barely on I hardly get an opportunity to chat with anybody, so I'm behind the times.

Nah, it's really that a lot of the start-up shells on Pandemonium are just terrible. I've tried to move into a leadership position to help before, and I have been a leader of an endgame shell in the past myself -- the problem is that a lot of the start-ups really are those stereotypical "well, I'll get myself and my friends some items and then break" groups. Everybody joins, you're there for a few months, you're trying to build rapport, and then wham -- no more shell.

I understand what you folks are saying about some shells that have tons of members but piss-poor management. I didn't start playing yesterday and I've been around the block a few times, so don't worry, I'm aware. Just felt kind of like I was grasping around in the dark for something to actually do, but I have an idea now and I'm confident about it.

Tricky thing is going to be getting HQ staves for my BLM. That's gonna take a lot of work. Time to get to it!

Gares character is played by Fival. And the person who asked last page about a Kupo MNK was referring to Xar, I think.

Pretty much the stuff we used to do, plus some new stuff. We don't really stick to the schedule anymore because people's needs are all over the place, so we decide what we're gonna do based on who's on mostly. Limbus, Dynamis, and Einherjar are locked in of course, but we pop in sky, sea, and ZNMs. Occasional little stuff like simmy, KA, and random SHNMs in the past areas too.

Haha there's like 3 new dynamis shells, sky shells, or "we do everything" shells shouting in whitegate on a weekly basis, and they all break once the leader gets haidate or they wipe to Dynamis-Sandy.

Honestly, BLM brought a lot more excitement to the game for me when I finished it because there's so much it can do. Granted, I was a WHM instead of a MNK beforehand, but it was a lot of fun for me.

Go duo/trio some ENMs or KS30s on BLM (and no I don't mean ODS), and you'll get your HQ staff money pretty quick depending on how many seals you have lying around. Can come along with me and my bud sometime if you'd like to see what it's like, it isn't so bad.

Yeah, that'd be cool. I do have KS, but I was full of dreams, saving them in the hopes of doing KS99s someday so I could finally get Black Belt items. At this point I'm thinking I'll just use them for the money to outfit my BLM.

Thanks for the invite, looks like I'll have plenty of stuff to do after all. Now I need to finish my current project, so time to stop trolling BG and get to work.

I thought you had a Black Belt? Maybe that was another MNK.

Sorry you're not enjoying the game as much, you have your priorities. I never really saw how bad Pandy has become until reading several posts here. I thought most servers were the same, having a handful of great endgame shells, and a ton of other shells that break after a while.

Naw. I've been playing for a long time, but since I dropped out of endgame proper years ago, I never did get one. After KS99s made it sort of easier to get BB items, I got a bit more hopeful. Never say never and all that.

Honestly, you can mostly gear BLM off the AH and still demolish people with fancy gear who don't know what they're doing. You'd think Drain was a 2-hour ability at times.

You can get a lot of the non-AH stuff with 2-3 people too. My BLM rests in full Yigit, and until recently idled in it for Refresh, and you can definitely get that with 3 people. I killed the Vicious Mufflers NM with BLM RDM THF, and I'm sure you could farm the pellets like that too, or something similar. I did practically all of 72-74 in sea duoing Aerns, and trio'd Ix'MNK (BLM BLM COR) with the resulting organs, getting stupidly lucky with Merciful Cape. I do Temenos E and Apollyon NW with the same two people for BLM items. 4-5 people, and you could do Nyzul for some Goliard stuff, especially feet/hands. Oh right, and naturally I got nearly all the organs for my obis solo or duo.

Reading about this really makes me appreciate my shell more. I don't always get along with everyone, but I'm not very sociable in the first place. Still, we accomplish pretty much everything we want to do, and our policy is basically "Be on when you can; come to events when you're on; don't sign up and then flake." Barely ever camping kings keeps the drama down pretty well.

It sounds like maybe if you persuade your SO's shell to let you just come to stuff with them, and make it clear that you don't really expect any loot, they'll probably eventually recognize that you're a good player. We've had people come in like that. I guess if I were in your position, I'd give that a shot.
