And here I was thinking that Pong was a game. Guess I was wrong.
And here I was thinking that Pong was a game. Guess I was wrong.
i read this, and i liked it.
Is this a grand thing to happen? i don't know what to say really.
What is your definition of a game?
I'm not even sure which of the top selling Wii games are non-games.
Oh BRP, you cryptic trollish bastard.
You are such a sandy vagina. When you think an argument suits you, you jump down peoples throats and type and type and the instant someone has a valid argument you throw your hands up "I'm bored done arguing now."
You also always scream about Strawman arguments and how bad they are and then you do the same thing. I never said Rosetta Stone and Windows Vista are games and they are worlds apart from the games on the Wii that you call "non-games" I think based on that you have no clue what you think makes something a game and what makes it something else.
I will start. A game can be categorized as any interactive media that has goals and gives incentives for the user to do better and reach those goals. This may be points or unlockables or prizes/trophies at the end or anything else that is given to the player as a result of them playing. Now that being said I can think of several IQ games, exercise games, singing games, puzzle games, casual games, mini games, typing games, and other things you would deem non-games that fall into this category.
You have a very narrow view of what games are and like I said before just because you do not think something is a game does not mean that it actually is not a game.
This is going nowhere. How many times has Maddox been mentioned in the last few posts? Do you want a 10 page thread with nothing but shit? Maybe I'll cycle through 5 people while going even more off-topic. I started with Kohan, now its your turn, who will be next?
I was pretty clear on what I thought was a non-game and asking me again is going to be a waste of my time. To attack that question head on: I listed qualities of a game. Max implied Pong didn't fit it, I said it did, and now you are asking to list the qualities of a game. Hurrrrrr maybe another day. There is enough of my opinion on these pages to speak for me.
My main problem with people in the gaming community is that people keep picking favorites and shut their minds out from anything else. The best Games do not come out on one system. You have to go to every single system to really get a feel for video games. All three systems have amazing games that every true gamer should play. There should be absolutly no reason why someone would only play Xbox 360 games because "it's Xbox and Wii sucks."
As Kohan as states, The Wii is great but denying the fact that it has one of the worst library of games is ridicoulous.
The frequent cases of "the gremlins" the Xbox 360 gets in addition to the console being the king of FPS and ignoring pretty much everything other genre is slightly disheartning.
The steep price tag of the PS3 is dumb. Not to mention the rather small library of games and the months upon months it takes to make a game for the system.
However, the negatives of all three systems are balanced by their positives. The Wii is fun as hell to play with your friends. Games like Super Mario Galaxy blow you out of the water. Not to mention a heaping helping of Nostalgia in the form of the Virtual Console. The Xbox360 is the king of online support and gaming. Xbox LIVE is done extremly well. Not to mention Xbox 360 has one of the finest library of games of the three systems. The PS3 simply looks amazing and has some amazing games for it (MGS4, Resistance, etc.) Blue Ray is a nice addon.
(PS : Sorry for my spelling.)
I don't know why anyone is bothering with this discussion at all. Nearly everyone who's arguing in this thread is basically guilty of parroting arguments you'll find on GameFAQs and elsewhere. This discussion doesn't try to dig deeper, it's just an argument about superficial shit on the surface that no one in the industry really cares about. Most of you glossed over the important, behind-the-scenes factors, and simply paid attention to what was right in front of your face, then decided to argue about it. You didn't even try to read between the lines. No one gives a damn about your preference in videogames except you, whoever is sucker enough to fight with you, and maybe a geeky clerk at GameStop. (And this statement isn't just aimed at one person, it's directed toward everyone who's trying to conduct a "debate" in this way.)
I tried to take it somewhere, but it seems most people prefer debating about meaningless crap like "well this is about the games I like and why they're more important waaaaahhhhh". If that's what you guys wanna fight about, have a blast, but it don't mean shit.
And I also tried to save the thread with the Party Babyz. That is 150% more important than any "discussion" that has come out of this topic. We should have started talking about that and why it's important to keep vodka away from rebellious infants. Don't any of you fools care about proper stolen baby parenting skills?
It seems like a waste of effort to change the course of this thread. Why not make a new one that isn't "Wii rules! Other consoles drool!" from the start? Maddox's interview doesn't seed DEEP conversation.
If Party Babyz came out for the PS3, I would have talked about it. Honestly...!
Ok so I know BRP is not going to check this thread again but because I have to understand, anyone know what the difference between pong and an IQ or typing game that provides goals, points, and incentives to do well is?
How is pong a game and the typing or IQ game not?
Oh I am going to check the thread alright. I am just here for the Party Babyz though.
