F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

I've been having a blast playing it. I'm at the interval where you are beneath the school trying to meet up with Snake Fist. Love the fact that the NPC's use cover and flip shit over to do so. Not like it makes much difference when you go into slow mo mode. I've been using the Assault Rifle, Missile Launcher, Sniper Rifle, and Submachine Gun pretty much the whole time. If I'm low on sub ammo I pick up one of the auto shotguns from the Replica soldiers. As a whole though this game isn't nearly as creepy to me as the first one.

I liked the AI, fighting and so on of this game, but I really can't even classify it as a horror game anymore. Not even a quarter as creepy as the first, which makes it a let down in my book.

Not comparing it to the first and judging it on what it is though is another story. It is great for what it is, but falls short of what I expected.

Yeah there's no real aspect of fear in the game. Even with the specimens and the predator type camoflauged soldiers it's not fear. It's more startling than anything. But that's about it. I mean shit I managed to startle myself playing Yakuza 2 late at night lol. I would be half asleep and running through down and the music would blare for a random fight and I would wake up like wtf was that?!

Just finished it... Definitely the easiest 'Hard' mode in any FPS I've ever played, but still a lot of fun. Got 60 Intel, and 9 Reflex Injectors. I'll finish those up later.

The ending though... I hate cliffhangers! I mean, I like for little tidbits to be revealed at the end of credits that leave it open for a sequel, but I like to have at least some closure. Well maybe in the next 3.5 years we'll get the third one to end the storyline!

It would be awesome though to play as both Becket and the Pointman in the next game.

Also, here's to hoping that getting max rank in F.E.A.R. 3 multiplayer won't take between 125 and 250 hours, like in this one....

Let's just hope they don't drag out the series and make sequel after sequel. There's only so much that Alma can do. As it is she's kind of responsible for the complete destruction of one city already.

Agreed, if they do it will end up being not scary at all. It's bad enough that she already grew up, in the next she'll be an 80 year old women with a walker trying to scare you by taking her teeth out.

Seriously...I was so let down by this game I can't stop thinking about it. I guess I put to much hope into it after part 1.

I can understand the need for a cliffhanger ending. It makes sense. But my major concern is that now instead of using Alma they are going to use

as the next major bad guy which would just basically be Alma version 2.0.

As it stands now the whole fear aspect was completely eliminated in the sequel. There were no frightening parts whatsoever. Even my wife said for a game named fear it's not scary at all. The story was decent, but not fantastic. I mean looking at all the intel files you come across there are still HUGE gaps in the plot and the peripheral stories. This one left me with more questions that I'm not sure I want to spend another 59.99 on to get the answers on.

In short I think it was a fun FPS with an okay storyline and for the most part, forgettable characters. I really don't see too much replay value in it. It's most likely going to collect dust until I trade it in.

Exactly, this was my fear when I fell for the first one. I am stoked as hell for this sequel. Replaying it now as we speak to get re acclimated to everything.

Don't build it up to amazing levels in your head Miz. Seriously. It's a good game no doubt. But the plot isn't nearly as good as the first one imo. As far as I stand if and when they make a Fear 3, they really need to begin steering away from the Alma Wade direction. It doesn't even seem like they know what to do with her.

I can see the possibility of playing in Fear 3 as the daughter born from Alma and Becket. But even then it still would revolve a lot around Alma Wade etc. The recipe worked for the first one and kind of worked for the second one. I really don't think that they could focus on Alma Wade or the baby to the point where they could make another entry into the series without it getting VERY stale.

There's several points during the game where you're about to walk into a nest of replica soldiers and they miraculously burst into a torrent of blood and goo. To me that's her helping you. But I suppose other people could take that different ways.
