    SATA drives

My hard discs don't seem to be showing up in the right place from some reason. >.>

I have them set up such that:
    SATA1 - WD 750GB HD
    SATA2 - Samsung CD / DVD Burners
    SATA3 - WD 320GB HD
    SATA4 - WD 500GB HD

    But it's reading them like:
    C:\ - WD 750GB HD
    D:\ - WD 500GB HD
    E:\ - WD 320GB HD
    F:\ - Samsung CD / DVD Burners

What did I do wrong exactly?

If you've installed Windows fresh, it should have enumerated the drivers according to their order in the BIOS, and not necessarily which SATA ports you've plugged them into. If you already had an OS install on the machine and have added another, chances are that the newest install re-enumerated them according to its default demands (e.g., Windows wanted the drive it was installed on as C:, and so on).

You can change the letters, but it's normally not recommended.

And yeah I had windows installed on the 750 first, then hooked up the other two drives.

exemple when you install a program that needs CD or DVD to run, in the Registry it says it will run exemple on d:

if you change the letter from D to E, sometimes the program wont run

Right. It can cause lots of problems. It's better, usually, just to leave things as they are, unless you'd prefer to arrange things in the BIOS as you'd like and then completely reinstall Windows.

My CD/DVD drive was D: though before I hooked up my other hard drives, which is why I was concerned.

Change drive letters. If shit stops working, change them back. No harm, no foul.

Never knew changing driver letters could cause that. I changed my storage drive/flash drive & DVD-RW drive. But haven't encountered any issues just yet. Good to know though.
