Ok, so to start out I'm not computer savvy in the least so if anyone can find an answer to my problem try to explain it in terms that a moron would be able to understand! Anyways, recently when I started opening Microsoft Word 2007 (I'm on Vista) I have had a message pop up saying: "Word cannot create the work file, check the TEMP environment variable." So after searching online for a solution I found this: WD2000: "Word Cannot Create the Work File" Error Message When You Open a File Anyways, I attempted to resolve the issue using Method 1.

Method 1: The Data Subkey in the Windows Registry Is Corrupted
Use the /a command switch to start Word. The /a switch allows you to start Word without loading the Data registry subkey.

For additional information about how to start Word by using the /a command switch, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
232605 (HOW TO: Ignore User Settings When You Start Word 2000 ) WD2000: How to Ignore User Settings When You Start Word
If the error messages described in the "Symptoms" section of this article do not appear when you start Word with the /a command switch, delete the Data subkey, and then rename the Normal.dot file. These actions reset all options to their default settings. Word rebuilds the Data subkey by using the default settings the next time that you start Word.

The /a command did in fact cause the error message to stop appearing, but I'm sad to say I have no clue what to do to go about deleteing the Data subkey etc. If anyone can explain what I need to do it would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance, and sorry for being to computer illiterate to solve the problem myself.
