Lost sound while installing new vcard/power supply.

Ok, so, the basics of my computer as far as the sound:

hp a1720n OEM mobo etc with onboard sound, front has mic/headphone/line out, back has mic/line out/multi channel jacks (i.e. front/center/back/sub)/ and a digital output, which I use, running into a full on Sony surround receiver

Essentially my computer functions as this room's sound/video centerpiece.

So, I installed a new power supply and video card today.

Nothing should have changed with the sound at all. I'm certain I hooked up the power supply exactly right. Same with the video card.

The only thing that directly affected the sound in any way is that I unplugged the cable when installing the new stuff. It's reconnected identically, and I've been through every possible setting on my receiver to make sure I didn't bump a knob and not notice or anything like that. Have also tried connecting it differently.

I've also tried it analog, running a little Creative speaker set from the line out. Still nothing.

The receiver is putting out sound from the tuner, but I don't really have anything else to check the digital inputs on it. I know the Creative speakers work.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

    Thanks!

edit: a1720n, not 250n lol. The 250 was like 10 years ago.

    A little further detail:

It used to show as Realtek HD blah blah in device manager, audio devices etc, and now it's simply showing as High Definition Audio Device.

I thought I had found drivers for it, but I installed them and they had literally no effect on it at all-- I even tried again with uninstalling the generic driver/device, then installing the new drivers, when it rebooted after running the driver install it simply detected a new device and reinstalled the generic HDAD again.

    I'm soooo lost.

    Go to
Control Panel > Sound > Audio tab
Sound Playback "Realtek HD Audio Output"

    Just got it, finally.

Had to go into bios and change audio setting to enabled, apparently the new video card being HDMI made it disable when it was on auto.
