If it was only about seeing your friends, you could simply make a new account, and lv up and have fun with your friends. I would even give you the account I stopped playing 6 months ago to let you be with your friends... if it was the real point.

Point is: FFXI is just another poorly designed game. I see people quit FFXI all the time because they "can't get high level" or "can't get help" or i love this one "lfg for hours" This poorly designed videogame is tedious, repetitive, and very frustrating when it comes to salvage drops.

Gotta admit that FFXI have indeed a really poor design...
I realized it by playing other games, games that offers lots of fun and enjoyment without requiring you to be a top notch player with the best gear available.

FFXI is a game with a shitty design leading players to have a shitty mentality: people do not have fun, they suffer hours daily to get gear, doing boring things to be better than their neighbor.
Why ? Because besides being better than the guy next to you FFXI doesn't provides enough entertainment.
All fights are always the same, it's always the same thing. There a few fights based on tricks, and you replace a spell by another, but globally the strategy never ever changes.

So what is left to players is being better than the guy next door, and since people are humans on the internet, they are ready to do all the dirty things they can to reach that only source of pleasure, and they end-up botting, cheating, dupeing etc etc...

With this ban you opened your eyes on the reality of FFXI.
If you want to play another MMO, I would advise you to go play something like warhammer that isn't based on having more gear than the others.

Square-Enix, with their moral high Japanese honorable values, would rather see a financial decrease in their FFXI income by just banning players

Hmm 1000 players represent about 0.2% of the money they get from monthly subscriptions... that's $15k, definitely nothing for a company like this.
