I liked Minidragon's post. I wasn't in his ls, I can't judge him really, but he seems like a very nice/intelligent person to me. Having been one of the more prominent people in FFXI endgame it's interesting to have read his thoughts on his LS and character.

I don't think it's really dawned on me til just now how much these bans are going to end up impacting FFXI as a whole. I mean think about it...damn.

The most surprising thing to me is the near absence of people crying about their shit getting banned. I mean, most of these chars had 4+ years of work put into them (and yes, FFXI does qualify as work most of the time), yet almost all I see are people just taking it and accepting the weight of what's happened to their content IDs. Very mature of a community that is immature a good portion of the time.

Not as much bitching as you'd think for what was lost. Breaking the rules is always a risk, they got punished.

Mostly I see the lack of bitching at the bans as proof that most endgamers are just going through the motions. Log in just because it's routine, not having a whole lot of fun. You spend years building a character, going through the fucktarded hoops SE puts in place for every step of the game, so it's hard to walk away. Being banned is just kind of being freed from that i guess. Minidragon said it well in his little goodbye spiel, SE goes out of their way to alienate the players.
