i Think its really ugly and evil some of you aqre taking this chance to kick people when they are down.

Yes, they deserved it. It was in my eyes a mild way of cheating and I think the punishment is too harsh. However, You acknowledge EVERYTIME you sign into FFXI that you understand, respect and will follow the ToS. By cheating, however little or big, you put your account at risk. Harash pounishment for salage gear? Yes. The fact remains you did cheat and whatever pounishment you get, you get.



I think whats even more sad is some of you come on here to rub 5-6 years worth of constant gameplay, blood,sweat and tears in peoples faces. Yes, some were assholes. Yes, some deserved it.

However its really sad and a bit shocking to me some of you stoop so low to kick someone when they are down. Some of these people are sadly, going to be depressed and invested a great deal of time into FFXI, more so than almost anyone.

Some of these people are really going to be hurt by this and although they did cheat and deserve it, I don't think they need any "help" feeling any worse.

In FFXI there is so much hate and drama so many peopole take it personally and "lol" at anothers misfortunes. I think however, some of you need to take a step back and really think about what you are doing. This is serious for some people and they will be very hurt by it as people, not just players. Rubbing it in and laughing about it and being cruel is just sad and a little sick.


A simple "Ha, told you so" or "Karmas a bitch" would have been tasteful but some of you seem like you really want to hurt someones feelings and TBH, its really sad because this is all over a game..

so i read some of the threads and there is way too much to read, but from what i read, noone on seraph got banned?

I mean, ppl really dont do salvage on this server and only about 3 linkshells have done sandworm... but, no bans from seraph?

Go look at the quotes thread and you'll see that this is our way of returning the same sentiments they gave us.

Paraphrased, but you get the idea. They (not all) wanted to be asses about it, so now it's our turn.

Seems like it was time to go for a lot of the people who got banned anyway. Yeah there will be a lot of depressed people, but I'm pretty sure some of them are actually pleased about it.

I'm curious. Those of you who said that a temporary ban instead of a permanent ban would deter future violations, what makes you think that? Hell, botting is a bannable offense and we all know how that works out. They probably figure they'll make more money because the people they perma-banned will just buy another copy. I know of quite a few on my old server who would just keep getting banned and coming back.

Some of these people are really going to be hurt by this and although they did cheat and deserve it, I don't think they need any "help" feeling any worse.

Yeah... they really do need help feeling worse, especially the ones that still fail to accept their punishment and are trying to wiggle out of the hot seat(Petfoodalpha post). This immoral life-style seeps into the real world. People that think morals, virtues, and respect are things to be scoffed at need to learn a lesson, and a bunch still don't seem to get it. I wish we lived in a world where people could learn from humanity's history and not repeat these mistakes, but unfortunately we do not, and spankings are a fact of life.

Well, I think we may have an explanation for the permbans despite a first offense.

Definition
Cheating is defined as improper actions that give the player an unfair advantage over others. The following actions are some examples of prohibited activities that are considered cheating:
- Use of a program or tool within any PlayOnline service that allows certain actions to be performed automatically and continuously.
- Changing, combining, reverse engineering, or analyzing game data, as well as creating or distributing related utility programs.
- Use of any unofficial program to the benefit of the user.

* Please note that use of any third-party program that affects game play is prohibited, whether or not it specifically benefits the user.

* Please note that even those players who take advantage of in-game mechanics not intended as normal means of game play even without the use of unofficial programs may also face penalties such as account suspension. If you become aware of any such issue, please report it to a GM immediately.

Response
Any players caught cheating will be severely penalized. If the investigation, which may include log checks and other various investigation techniques, reveals that the player has gained an unfair advantage, the account will be immediately suspended and reviewed by the Account Admin for permanent account termination.

If you have witnessed players moving at unusual speeds or otherwise exhibiting suspicious behavior, please contact a GM so that the matter can be investigated. Select the "Help Desk" -> "I want to report a violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement" and place a call.

GMs may approach players during the course of cheating investigations. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Reasons
Cheating disrupts the game balance and items obtained in this way can disrupt the economic stability of the game. Additionally, some unofficial programs contain viruses and spyware which can be harmful to not only the user of the program, but also to other players as well. This can lead to personal data leaks, character deletion, and other unfortunate circumstances.

I wasn't affected by the Salvage bannings, but since I was temp banned I've been careful with what I do to make sure I don't get perma'd.

And while there are some that come back, there's probably more that won't because they don't want to put more time and effort into redoing things like missions and such. I imagine most will either go try WoW or quit completely.
