I heard a few of Ostrea's ls got banned, I haven't heard of any NAs though.

I'm not aware of any NA salvage groups that have received bannings on Gilga, not so sure about FR or JP though.

I did a quick search of players I know who salvage regularly or I know have lots of completed pieces JP/NA/EU and found most of them to be still online as of yesterday.

I may have missed it in the time of going to sleep and coming to work etc but, has Elmer posted anything related to the JP responses to this wave of bannings?

I must be in the minority, but seeing all your friends around you disappear forever took the joy right out of the game, if there was any left; everyone who didn't get touched are way too happy about it. Major contributors to the FFXI community are gone, if anyone had even one person they knew perma-banned then this effects them whether they care or not.

I never did the trick, I wanted to try it; I sort of advocated it.

I would have liked an easy way out of this situation, by being one of the many perma-banned accounts. It feels so much harder parting when you really don't want to. I have to be grateful though I can at least leave FFXI properly, and distribute gil/items/char like I had wanted had I quit.

LSs collapse, it's not like RMT bannings of the past or obvious 3rd party tool exploits. I don't think it will bring about FFXI's end, it definitely sends the message to everyone that I think will change FFXI or maybe initiate it's decline.

to what extend did you exploit this bug to get perma-ed?

eg. dupe every run? im confused because i dont know how SE come up with perma and temps

It's probably more rampant in the JP community on Gilgamesh, I distinctly remember seeing the same person selling 3 yoichi sash on FFXIAH in quick succession.

I also know of 1 person who claimed he duped with his group but he dodged the bullet apparently. I'm really glad that pretty much all of my friends either didn't know or didn't use the dupe glitch and aren't banned. I really feel for people like Kuroshi who pretty much lose a lot of friends because of this decision of perma banning so many "real" people while they didn't involve themselves with it at all.

I remember my old Salvage static was laughing at me for being too scared to go along with exploit runs I should laugh at them now :D

I already knew any kind of exploit was against SE's ToS reason why I did not feel risking actions taken against my account.

Actually, I ran the trial salvage runs. We never did duping in those runs. I helped maybe 3-5 times when a different run that was duping went, but I was pretty much done with what I wanted from salvage a while ago. Every unlocked piece I have was obtained legit. Pretty much the same deal with Nyzul, we didn't realize you could even do it in there till a little before the patch. There is one person who's done many more dupe runs then I have who just received a letter, no suspension or ban. I'm not sure what criteria they used, but my account was pretty much clean before this.

Unless they just randomized the bans, I think the way they perm banned people is by checking if they could find any chat from them that proved they knew and for how long without reporting, and at same time participated in it in some way.
