Byr, get on vent!!
Dar
Whine, complain. It probably won't do shit.
I'm neutral on the entire thing, just as I was when SE fixed the glitch. Waiting or complaining to SE are the only logical solutions.
We all know arguing morality gives us an answer. In a short while, there will be someone with a summary post on all the possible views. Then, there will be someone saying its wrong for whatever reason, and the arguing of morality will continue.
So, with that said, commence further.
Less QQ moar pewpew?
I had flashbacks to Carlin's Seven Words, heh. "No one provides you with a list! I mean, at least if you're not supposed to say them, they could provide you with a list!" I kind of laughed when I read Stain's post, I never knew SE actually had it in their TOS that exploiting their fuck up is against the rules. Wow, lol, sorry guys we coded bad now we ban you kay? D:
phew, kinda glad i didn't know anything about this at all until a few weeks after it was patch x_x...
Been playing for around 5 years and have some of the shittiest luck imaginable when it comes to drops. Didn't use the glitch and still wouldn't. I don't need Salvage drops that badly.
It sucks you got banned but you cheated. You knew the risk and you took it.
All it means is that when a large percentage of your posts (20 of 270-something or whatever) are used to kick someone who's down then it says something about your character. People don't post often, but make sure to post when it's laughing at others. I don't know what's worse, cheating, or laughing at someone who invested 5 years into the game to get perma-banned for cheating. I haven't played in 2 years (I quit and was never banned or suspended....never cheated), I don't have a vested interest in this, I just think it's disgusting that people lose investments, long spent investments, when taking advantage of a glitch on a small scale comparitively. There's a lot of bible-beaters here who've always hated cheating (Aurik was one), I never had a problem with them. It's the people who never post and just pop on to laugh at others.
The highlight of all of this is how the majority of the people going "They won't ban us, nothing will happen, too many people cheated!" when they patched the glitch haven't posted yet.
I'd hate to come off as a smug bastard but...
LOL. So rich. Hate to say we told you so, but it's good to know even the "1337"est players aren't godlike entities that are immune to bannings.
I just hope that the 15 SapereAude members I can't see online stay offline.
{See you again!}
EDIT: So Jackyl first Mythic Weapon, and first Mythic Weapon to be deleted? :D
you are now guilty of the same thing i am!
however, I must disagree with Destinye. approximately 950 people were hit. now of these 950 people apparently none of them knew how to report such a problem. that is, they didnt want to. none of these people were above being human after all.
the fact that this is a video game probably made peoples feelings towards the matter more lax than people who compared this to bank errors in your favour (because in essense, this game isnt as serious as that, you cannot go to jail for duping virtual items, you can go to virtual jail though!). comparing the two isnt at all realistic to the situation at hand, some people got banned and suspended from a game they play. a rather large number, but small for the amount of people i thought knew about the salvage dupe.
im not suprised that the people who didnt get banned seem to feel superior now in such a manner that they can scold those who did, Its like, are you their parents? I'm going to go with a most of you are just bullshitting and saying "well IF i knew, i wouldnt, because im so much better than that". no you're not, I know plenty of nice people whove done it, and i consider myself a "nice guy" under the proper conditions. right now would not be one of them, its 8am.
In the long run: sometime between now and your death, you will do something worse than duping virtual armor. none of you are this pure.
however, I do feel a small amount of remorse for assisting in duping. FFXI is one game i like to pretend that botting and hacking isnt a big problem. keyword pretend, being a part of it brings me back to diablo 2.
and i dont want ffxi to be like diablo 2.
Am i the only one that doesnt really care about Salvage pieces being duped but I am bothered about the Alexandrites, as its unknown whether SE were using the volume of Alex entering the game as a rough figure for Mythics.
Just curious, anybody have any reaction from the JP side?
Someone wanna look through the thread and compile the list of 400 and 550? That number seems pretty low regarding the number of servers, etc.?
I'm definitely in one of the groups... Apparently 17 is both temp and perma... gotta call em.
It's actually:
"Sorry that we coded badly, if you catch them report them so we can work on fixing them."
No one reports, shit doesn't get fixed, and I don't mean "Make my job OMGWTFOVERPOWEREDSOICANFIREMUHLAZER" kind of "fixes", I mean real shit that needs to be fixed and exploits are a tad bit greater in priority than overpowering jobs/items.
I don't normally pop up and post to laugh at others. But in 100 posts, if I remember, I'll bring it up again in case I mature at "1k." Or we can assume the past 900 posts of mine were pure mockery of others.
Guessing because I played for as long as I have I can cheat and not get banned because I am a "veteranzzzz"
