Yeah, the only reason it's ironic is because there are a lot of people that got ban-hammer'd, but aren't posting on BG about how "controversial" it is. They knew they were fucked if they got caught, and they accepted responsibility when they did. Hell, that's one of the main reasons a lot of people I know didn't spread around the exploit, and didn't use it for Sandworm, because they didn't want whole shells to be wiped out (like they certainly been have in some instances).

Because out of those people, they have done tests on a website forum about game issues. Because of this they feel they should be treated with more respect than the other people in this game, who pay just as much to play as they do. To bad no one told them no matter want you do on an unofficial forum of a MMO you play, it doesn't give you the right to cheat without being punished.

If you gotta go down..take your whole shell down with you, that's the true end-game way! Seriously though, I can see it being "controversial" if SE purposely made a glitch just to see who would abuse it, but they didn't. We haven't seen a game made with glitches on purpose since Superman 64.

Probably because the criteria for perma vs temp banning vs a sternly-worded letter in your inbox is still opaque and that many seem to still have gotten completely away with it makes the permabans seem harshly unfair.

But that's just me, y'know, looking past the superficial lulz of it all.

I'm not exactly sure what was so controversial about anything that SE did here. They caught people cheating in their online game and banned them. The controversy lies more within the community as people who once were considered by some to be special have been exposed as frauds. Watching them try to defend themselves using the same tired "u noob me leet" rhetoric that they used before they got banned is funny as shit.

Next Halloween: All the banned characters become zombified mobs (still mostly looking like their characters rather than a generic skelly "Zombie" mob) and you need to kill them off in Al Zabhi before they reach Aht Urhgan and get to the salvage armor NPC.
