You know I wouldn't doubt it at all if SE increased Salvage drop rates at the same time they banned all of these accounts. Would be the most amazing passive-aggressive action in the history of mankind.

Anyone remember the 2nd AV kill method with mass wynavs killing?

I remember we all had a good argument on BG here about if this was an exploit or the intended kill method. There were an awful lot of "hay guyz when AV mentions virtues, he mean's wynavs, that's the clue!". Then weeks later, oops, guess it was an exploit (ninja patched with no warning or even confirmation of the change).

People love to play semantics on what's an exploit but it's not cut and dry.

Which is almost as long as how long salvage has been out. People have been using the dupe for 2 years.... why would SE up the drop rate when they see people getting shit double time when it drops? If they truly didn't know about the exploit, but see the drops for the people using it, then they don't see the drop rate as shit. They see it as working as it should. So SE has never been able to fully see or understand how bad the drop rate is in salvage because of the people using that exploit.

Exactly; it's probably why Mythic weapons have an outrageous Alexandrite requirement. But as shown in the thread for the emergency maintenance, many of these who actively used this exploit and grieved for it in November, are the kind that believe themselves to be "privileged" over the mainstream FFXI playerbase. And now they cry foul because their arrogance caught up to them with a vengeance.

Drop rate issue has been asked to increase for a long time. Ever since I first started salvage. I requested people to help complain about this. They finally respond in December 08, and salvage has been out like almost 1+ year since the post on KI. Till now it still haven't been fix.

The dupped trick doesn't mean everyone get 100% drop, every time u kill an NM. The drop rate doesn't change. Only the drops are multipled. So we still had sorry drop rates. If you knew the trick and you were in a serious salvage ls, it would be silly not to try this trick.

I understand the people that flamed the duppers, probably was not very committed to salvage. I am sure there are some that are and will post right after, saying he is a committed member that never did it. But if he knew this trick, it would be foolish not to use it or didn't work when he did try it. Helping your members get gear, seeing your friends get geared up is really the true reward.

The linkshell I ran, I ran with common people and manage to get them full sets. We were not HNM ellites, and I honestly hated HNM people. I tried to make a salvage LS that wasn't HNM related, proving average every day players can get their gear without kissing ass of a great HNM LS leader. Every day players can get a shot at salvage gear. My LS was not hated or arrogant because we all came from humble background. I can honestly say most of my members didn't carry themselves like they were better than other people(maybe 1), we were just average players.

Lastly it is an unfair advantage to people. Technically everyone could have done it. If everyone did it, I highly doubt SE would banned every player. But most didn't know about it and some of the people that knew about it were jerks, hence why the hatred started. They should just banned the leaders, people like me that started the dupping. My members had to go along with it, and most will jsut go along. Peer pressure isn't fair to the other members.

Since SE is clearly in the wrong in enforcing their own rules why don't all of the banned come together and file a class-action lawsuit against SE?

Logging out isn't an exploit.

The requirement for first floor frog to pop is to clear a wing without using a single cell. Players have found a way around this by using the cells, and simply logging everyone but one locked person out.

The first floor frog shouldn't pop at all the second a person uses a cell.

The way to do it without logging off would require h2h'ing everything and using dusty potions for dear life - all for a frog with non-100%, level 15 drops. Currently you arent exploiting the system but simply doing things at a more efficient pace (Salvage is all about efficiency is it not?) and SE doesnt really have a problem with it.

Logging off to pop F1 madame isnt even worth mentioning because not only does she not drop any 35s (35s are all that matter anyway) but her drops are mirrored on F4 frog at a 100% rate. Shes simply there to meet quota for F6 frog in most cases anyway.

The whole challenge-mode idea of beating a whole wing without using a cell sounds entertaining but in the end you really dont want to waste a ton of time for the "thrills" when you could simply just log off then on and collect your 1 15 drop (or 0 as usual).

Logging off is no different a strategy than zoning repeately imo.

Its not like everyone knew about the glitch 2 years ago. 1year ago people prolly started hearing about it, and the last 5months it started becoming widely used.

The thing is, I'm not saying that the trick MADE you get drops, but it increased drops when they did want to fall. SE had no reason to up the drop rates no matter how many people complained because their records showed that a lot of people were finishing sets in a matter of months. They probably wrote it off, (again saying if they had no idea about the exploit), that the ones that complained were just unlucky SOBs.

I didn't do Salvage. I still don't. I don't like it. Mostly because I hate spending 100 mins running around hoping for enough MP cells so I cast as well. But I have friends that do this legitimately. So I know how they feel. And seeing them get what they want, you're right is very rewarding. But I know I wouldn't of used the trick, just for the fact that I wouldn't of wanted to risk losing my toon.

100 minutes isnt that bad, it is on on lot faster and less death than dynamis. I am sure u spent 2 hours in dynamis or farm sky. That is a lot longer than salvage already. Looking for cell is the fun part. Figuring out how and what to kill. Managing what is needed and what is not. The rest of the game is about what pimp gear u have and how hard u swing at it. There are very few strats to do things. Most strat comes from killing boss and pulling. Gear really doesnt matter in salvage assume u are extremely gimp. You are fitting nake most of the time. So us noobs can do salvage with out KC and ridills. That is why salvage is better than on on lot of other events. And I dont spend 3 hours camping HNM. Yeah, if u did do salvage u will realize how great that dupp is hence why we all got banned

The petition won't do anything O.o I mean I can see why people would try. But SE has rules. They have a ToS. You agree to that ToS every time you log on. You're paying to RENT a character from them. You don't own it or have any legal rights to it. They can do what they want when they want to terminate the account that they own and are lending to you. Sucks, I know. But I don't see how a petition is gonna work :/

lol oh I agree. I can see why it's fun. But I just never go with great groups, and I was always confused by it. I understand it all now, but I'm kinda on a mini-break anyway, so not even gonna start that up XD

Edit: Agree on the could be fun part!! Not the dupe. The dupe, I think is stupid. I know a lot of people that were banned for it. Sucks, hate that it happened. But if they are gonna risk it, then they need to deal with the consequences.

I don't really agree.
It's 100 minutes, sure, but it's 100 minutes every day. Added together that's potentially 700 minutes or nearly 12 hours a week. Dynamis is at most 7 hours.

Not to mention you need to spend anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes (if not RvB) for 1500 AP every day, which brings 12 hours up to maximum of 17 hours.

Compare that to the amount of drops from 1 week of salvage runs; if you're lucky, you might get 4-5 35 pieces. Dynamis x2 nets up to 20 or more, along with hundreds more currency than alexandrite. Also consider that relic weapons takes like 17k currency and mythics take 30k.

Salvage is really not rewarding enough for the time invested.

I sent this guy a letter when the whole masshacking started and SE had no policy to deal with it. Needless to say.... i hope you enjoy getting no response.
