At first I told myself that I wasn't going to write this, and I should leave well enough alone.

1-22-09 was a biblical day in FFXI, and although I may seem like a heartless bastard to a LOT of you, I still have that small pebble of sympathy for the people that got LM-17'd.

With that said, I get to my point.


I was reading minidragon's farewell address on the NiN forum, and it was done very respectfully and tastefully, and made me almost upset to see him go.......*

Because you see, even though he took your ban like a man, for which, I have the UTMOST respect for, he made this statement that landed like a sour note,

"I am leaving the game, but I'm happy to say I'm leaving the game as one of the most accomplished individuals."

Minidragon.... sir... I think you forgot something........

You see, I, like MANY people on my server envied you. They may not admit it, but with all the hate they... no... WE flipped off at you, we were jealous of your 60 relics, 29 lvl 75 jobs, and hords of zombie-esque followers willing to let you dip into the LS back for your own personal wanking. LS's wanted to BE IRON/NiN, and I'd be lying if I didn't compare my OWN LS to yours.

However... again, I feel you forgot something... something that would have forced me to /salute you even though you stood against everything I believed FFXI to be.


An Astrix**

You know, that little star looking symbol next to a statement that's usually attached to a footnote explaining the whole of what happened.

For instance, Barry bonds home run record is 756*.

Now, that Astrix is there for the same reason that their should be an Astrix next to that statement you made earlier, because Barry Bonds in no other uncertain terms.....cheated.

Not just the salvage Dupes either.......

I think about all those honest players that left because botters kept claiming the monsters they wanted to kill, and how those same botters would brag about how UBER they were when they wore those ill-gotten threads.

I think about how WoW has a higher subscriber base partly due to the economy of FFXI* (partially SE's fault, but it didn't help matters that people were monopolizing items ) , and how Botters and other RMT... in my eyes... are 100% to blame.

I then go back to this statement and wonder' "Does this guy REALLY think he was that uber when he used up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-b-a-b-a-select-start?"

I may not ever have 1 completed relic, or beat PW, or run a HNMLS that's willing to bow at my every whim, but every SINGLE accomplishment that I achieve in FFXI will be earned with no tarnish, no smudges, and ESPECIALLY no Astrix**.

So, much success to you in whatever you find yourself doing, as well as all the other players that took part and/or was caught up in the bannings. Hopefully, the cheating was only in game and their aren't any lvl 5 love children runn' 'round* (that was a joke).

But.... remember.. sure... you were great, but if your greatness was a lie... was it REALLY that great?
