I lost 2 Accounts in EQ1 to retarded dupeing so I know how unrelenting developers can be in retaining their integrity (cause that's what we fcking did, we assaulted their integrities as developers by abuseing a glitch they implemented not of their own accord..)

No shit. They were actually even more far reaching than what SE is currently doing. If any tainted plat was sitting in your inventory that you received from someone else (ie transaction from East Commonlands), you were instantly suspect and/or banned. My younger brother was banned because of this. His account was reactivated a year or two later when they conducted a review of the situation (which was humorous when he was later accidentally banned from FFXI for sharing the same name as a guy that was supposed to get banned on another server. I'm waiting on his WoW account to be banned so I can say he's cursed). His account was unbanned afterwards.

SWG had the same issue when duped credits were being flooded into the market. Anyone suspect had the banhammer delivered upon them.

Hence I want to know the conditions they used to temp/permaban during their investigation. I get the feeling a few bans may be guilt-by-association.

I remember a ton of us that do salvage were pissed we never duped any salvage gear...kinda glad we didn't now.
Not worth it imo, but doing salvage 4x a week and seeing 'maybe' 1 35 drop the entire time is what makes people use exploits like this.

I'll humor you though: Do you completely and utterly disagree with how AV was killed? How PW was killed? I personally don't, but if you're going to take that line of thought, all the AV kills and the sole PW kills were exploits and EVERYONE who participated should be banned.

Apparently they may get items taken away, and a lot got permabanned. Since it wasn't everyone who did the duping..people did get off easily sadly

Someone already tried to use that as a rationalization to use the dupe. It's not like people are singled out for bad drop rates EVERYONE deals with them unless you get very very lucky. I went over a year of doing the shit consistently without any finished pieces and still have yet to see some 35's drop. Did I cheat? Fuck no because it's stupid to risk losing a 5 year old account for a piece of fucking gear. The only thing I see that's not fair about this is the fact they don't hit people who cheat in other ways this hard and have basically given up on getting botters.

Hell i no i would have used this glich had i heard about it. Seeing 5 askar body drop and getting out lotted or two 35 usk feet made me cry lol. Thing is you can not get mad, as i said in the old post few months back you cheated the system, im still pissed people hide it.

Sry to all about the bans if you did not hide it maybe this would of been like any other cheat found out, and fixed 2 weeks later with no one getting the ban stick.

the fact stands that a lot of you did this for over a month. thats a lot.... it made ingots go up in price and screwed over a lot of people. If SE had found out about it id be willing to bet you 1mil gil that no one would be getting this shit right now

Yeah... the 2nd Account I got banned was my RL friends who didn't even participate in the dupe;; I just gave him some of the plat I made from it to help his char... Felt so horrible I restarted in EQ1 with him from scratch and had to help him...


Moral of the Story.. Don't piss of Game Developers... it's not like they hold your account in their hands or anything..

The logout thing isn't a exploit or glitch though, when your character logs out you're gone from the game.

Duping is an exploit..a VERY VERY common exploit in EVERY online game, and it's a pretty bad one in player ran economies.

I went 8 months before i completed my first item (morrigan's cuffs) so i totally understand.
But i dont think i would have partaken in the dupe tho.
Because it's not like SE wouldn't find out.
