Duping salvage items good, duping sandworm items bad? Cheating is still cheating? I don't get it, what's so logical about it? What makes doing one better then the other? Don't get me wrong, I did it in both areas, hell, I pioneered duping sandworm drops on Asura ... I just don't see how its any different from doing it in Ashu Talif/Salvage/Nyzul.

I've duped plenty of Sandworms on my alt, but didn't salvage with it... it's not banned, but my main that I salvaged daily with is 17ed which makes me think they only looked at salvage logs.

Same, just talked to a friend of mine via MSN and was told the same thing, that it was a "perma ban" and there was no way it will be "changed to temp". Basically from what he was telling me they are telling everyone caught that there are still yet to be some that haven't been banned as they are still reviewing the ones that haven't.

So that message could mean you are being reviewed further? Just a speculative suggestion that came to me. Don't want to jinx you Stan lol, and wow at Mini and Whim.....

It's because salvage has such low drop rates it's ok to dupe those items and ruin the amount SE assumed would enter circulation but duping sandworm items is bad because it makes you a lot of gil!

...There's still no justifying cheating at all. Low drop rates can be depressing but if it pushes you to openly cheat, then well you get whats coming to you, whether you believe you deserve it or not.

Oh, and since people just love "good" real life comparisons...

If you're so poor and you decide to rob a bank and get caught and taken to jail, do you believe you deserve to be put in jail since the only reason you robbed a bank was because you were poor?

It is funny that those who duped salvage stuff tried to keep it a small community. Truth is that if they actually share the info there would be more dupers and perhaps forcing SE to reconsider banning such big amount of player base. For 500 ppl? not going to effect the game at all, so why not just get rid of them?

We had this discussion already when SE nerfed the duping (How many times am I gonna have to say this in this thread) and we came to the conclusion that ingot prices really weren't effected by the people duping. Slightly, maybe, but it wasn't like ingots went from 800k to 400k when the duping got nerfed, and it wasn't like they jumped from 400k to 800k when people found out about duping.

I don't see why everyone says they deserved it. If you've never played an MMO before I could understand, but seriously. I didn't use the exploit (on the 'didnt know about it' side), but salvage drop rates are god awful I could see why people would. In any other MMO'esque game i've played, there have been exploited programming error,s which are usually fixed (except with PSO, lolduping). I bet half (if nto more) of the people saying "You cheated, you deserved it," didn't know about the exploit till after it was patched. I severely doubt the majority of the people doing salvage would have knowingly rejected the idea of obtaining multiple drops.

I think you are confusing the two points.

People are generally not upset with those that just duped, got caught and then accepted the consequences.

People are getting on their high horses about the people that duped, got pissy about other people causing "their dupe" to get shut down, then crying like angsty teens when they got banned.

For example, I respect Xerlic for what they said. They knew it was wrong, did it anyway, got some reward and may now be banned for it, but accept that situation as a consequence for their actions.

This thread is really showing the difference in the maturity of people. Justifications and excuses and blaming everyone but themselves are just glaring signs of immaturity and a reminder that some of the people that play the game are just anti-social children.

Listen to these words this is so true, but replace 'rob a bank' with 'kick grandma till she dies' because it's MUCH WORSE then simply robbing people you don't know. Square is the REASON you play role playing games they invented them and now all you people say you'd turn your backs on them just because they banned you? UGH.

Obviously instead of trying to cheat they should patiently wait for square to benevolently respond to their requests at change. Oh fools, so impatient! Can you imagine the sublime feeling of knowing right now square is heeding and reading my ideas while you fools got banned? Hah! All along you could have simply ask that they rethink the rate at which items dropped! Instead you show your true colors and now they have lost worthless players who have clogged their registration and payment servers for too long! Feh. If I was haruhi, I'd wish for you whiners to disappear and maybe for Nagi to love me too but that's not important right now.

I won't gloat, but I feel soon they will change the game so botters too will feel the banhammer (or katana, because hammers are ugly weapons). Soon leaping lizzy will be claimable by all, not just the elite-cheat squad.
