I didn't get banned/suspended/whatever, and I'm not trying to justify the consequences, but I honestly think this was a mistake on SE's part. Although, those who willingly knew it was an exploit and persisted to use it, deserve the ban. However, people who used it once, and maybe not intentionally, and just rolled with it, should not receive any kind of penalty.

After reading this thread of replies, it occurs to me, that there are two types of people that got banned:

1) Those that accept that they have cheated.

2) Those that haven't accepted that they have cheated.

For those that know anything about integrity, you can appreciate this.
And for those that like real life parodies, imagine this:

When a "homeless" person steals bread to eat, he accepts that he has done wrong before he even commits the crime. If he is caught, even HE accepts his punishment.
