but they are usually the leader of alliance(because we do sell salvage drops and dissolve ally after bringing buyer in) and also a sleepga man for 5F madame, that always sleepga > logout > re-enter

maybe thats how they got "suspected" but i strongly think if you didnt cheat, you wont get hit by the stick

They definitely seem to want to send a message, no doubt. I am friends with quite a few people that are now perma-banned, all off them so far knew the risks are aren't bitter at being banned. Most just see it as a bit harsh.

The people making excuses, fail. Kind of like how a lot of people were justifying shit in the Kira is justice thread. Man this is has certainly turned into a cluster fuck relatively quickly.

Did the exploiters kill someone? No. Did they steal CC info? No. Did they cause pain, ruin and anguish to anyone? No. You see where I am going with this right?

Tl;dr. Destinye needs to relax. Mediocre problem is meet with Extreme punishment instead of Mediocre punishment.

Oh fyi: I did not even know of the exploit until the day it was patched.

Like I said, I wouldn't care much if the people that cheated just accepted it, but the people who were smug as fuck about it and thinking they wouldn't get caught is who I see (and laugh about) that deserved it.

As for the severity of the problem? Perma ban isn't severe for breaking ToS. It says right in your face for grounds of permanent banning:

Rules of Conduct, Article 2 Prohibited Conduct in FINAL FANTASY XI
- Taking advantage of programming errors, such as bugs/exploits, for any reason

So to gauge the severity of the repercussion is well in the hands of those who were banned, but the people who went around gloating they didn't get caught and won't get caught..and did get caught today and still try to justify it, are why I laugh and on a "moral high horse."

People crying "but it's SEs fault for bad coding letting us exploit an error!" are crying the very reason they deserve it. They knew it was an exploit, they used the exploit to their gain. This wasn't a "how the hell did this happen. Let me contact SE, let them know what happened to make sure they don't accuse me of cheating."

If you knowingly use an error for gain, you deserve the punishment, plain and simple.
