There entire point was these are EXPLOITS what that means is it is things that re NOT supposed to happen and thus werent meant to be in the game, you people act like they meant to do that shit, all the people QQing over gettign suspended/banned over doing that stupid shit, SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT and just made a email telling then it was there, they are mad for people not doing such things and taking advantage of it, it's like a bank robber blaming socitey for there actions "I only robbed it because i couldnt get a job, blame the people who dont hire me!" seriously...

And lol @ this thread. Lots of QQing, made my morning.

I'm really surprised people didn't expect any repercussions at all. Come on, we knew this was coming, this is Square Enix we are talking about here, after all. It sucks guys, but what are you gonna do? Accept it, right? And start again if you wish.
yea i think 16 was billing

but theres a special number for official temp bans for sure

No real way to justify cheating, but it leads me to try and answer one question and leads to another. If this many people were taking advantage of this exploit, shouldn't that at least send some message to SE about how unhappy people are with the salvage drop rate in general? Taking that into consideration, should that have been factored into determining the punishments?

I know SE has publicly stated in various interviews they plan on adjusting drop rates specifically in Bhaflau and SSR, so that at least tells me they've acknowledged player base complaints.

Not saying people are justified in any way for cheating, but from where I'm sitting, people are more encouraged to exploit things like this if conditions are shitty enough for them to even consider it and to that extent, SE is partly to blame.

Yeah, old exploits of duplicating items (old delivery box dupe for example) was banned in the past before, so it's not like this is some new punishment for them. Just the first one of this grand of scale that wasn't mainly targeted at RMT.

People crying "but it's SEs fault for bad coding letting us exploit an error!" are crying the very reason they deserve it. They knew it was an exploit, they used the exploit to their gain. This wasn't a "how the hell did this happen. Let me contact SE, let them know what happened to make sure they don't accuse me of cheating."

If you knowingly use an error for gain, you deserve the punishment, plain and simple.

It was just an example of how SE has dealt with things differently. You can't compare the impact they have on the game, but I think it's valid in terms of how random SE deals with things. I could bring up others, like the wall of justice being used to kill AV by one LS, yet when another tries it they all get warnings. Where is the consistency?

I still use the wall to kill Prudence on a regular basis, and I've had a GM watch me(people usually call if they see it happening) on more than one occasion, not giving a damn.

SE shoulda handle this more properly..........

Putting up temp ban message or account closed message is very confusing

    should just replace with:
    "Game Over"

You do forget that this is suppsoed to be an enjoyable game, how fun would it be if all drops where 100% every run, everyone would havre them everywhere and at some point, would be no reason to do salvage anymore. it seems to be a matter of people don't want enjoyment and to work for there gear, they just want to do as little work as possible to get as much as possible.

I got a LM-17, only used dupe once, i phoned PoL right away, he said "because your case was not as serious as others, you have been given a temp suspension till midnight on the 26th"

By SE's reasoning, anyone who used that "exploit" (one of SE's own making and one that their apparently non-existent beta testers missed) should be banned because they used it and didn't report it to a GM. Instead it was addressed in a quick patch and people were basically left to enjoy it while it lasted. But now in a much similar situation, except involving duping loots, people are given an immediate ban. SE's note to us seems to apply universally to all incidents of exploitation, yet it is clearly based on which part of the gameplay you choose to exploit.
There's a big difference between the two cases.
The Flee-Mazurka thing was very well known while the dupe exploit was intentionally kept hidden by those who abused it for months, so I think SE wanted to punish them for this reason rather than the fact that they got a bunch of extra pixels.

Ironically, if the dupe exploit had been made public, I bet a lot of salvage groups would have abused it for a few days before SE fixed it, but at that point it would have been e really dumb move to ban basically the whole level 75-playerbase who attempted to exploit it.

Sandworm's dupig however was severe enough, a full HQ worm or Guivre loot times 3 means half a relic on my server, and I'm sure on others as well.
A duping LS who monopolizes Sandworm for months looks like permaban material to me honestly.

Actually, they said they were going to investigate during a Fan Fest interview...

Allakhazam.com: What actions will be taken against people who exploited the glitch to multiply drops in salvage, Nyzul assaults, and Sandworm NM fights?

We are addressing the issue now by looking at all the logs; the only thing is that just by looking at the logs it's hard to determine whether people exploited that glitch intentionally or accidentally. The logs are all we have to go on so once the log investigation is complete and we get more information we will go from there and decide the best course of action.

Y'know, I feel kinda sorry for these guys. I mean, they were at the top of the game, they had all the ph4t l00tz and the meritzzzz, but now, they're NOBODY in FFXI, and when/if they go on to WoW/Warhammer/Hello Kitty Online, they'll have to claw their way up to the top again, in the meantime remembering what it's like to be the poor shmuck on the bottom, getting spit on by the people who are at the top of THOSE communities.
Man allakhazam has a "fucked up childhood" thing going.
