maybe they brought it back for this but I've known well over 50 people who've gotten perma-banned(donotpassgo) since mid-07 and they were all LM-17, not a large enough sample size etc

A temp ban can turn into a perm ban. Usually when the account had previous violations on it.

the SE ToS contract is a fine piece of work. Basically says that if you know about or benefit from a fuck up they committed, that it is your fault and will ban you. If you play and file a lawsuit vs. them, they ban you. If you are repeatedly reported for botting and POS hacking they ba... wait maybe not for that one.

When I logged on my alt before, my ls informed me that a shit load of 24/7 got kicked while fighting Tiamat this morning and that they had to call in the sister shell and struggled to get it down. I'd assume they take a hit, but nothing that will effect them too much.

I got LM-17 which turned out to be a perma ban. Kinda sucks lol after 4 years of playing without any warning or strikes against teh account they just ban me like that. People who got like 200 mil of SW however dont seem to be getting banned, 3 days suspention onry. I guess everything gotta end sometimes.

What about the gil they made selling duped alex? What about the duped Alex? If you take away the items, you have to take away the gil right? If you punish cheaters you have to punish all the cheating, whether it was duping rare/ex or duping alex and turning profit. In turn, that would also punish legit players who unknowingly bought duped alex.

Why? It's SE's game, they can do whatever they like, take whatever they like and deal with it however they like.

You are making a very poor assumption that they have to treat it by what you think is fair.
