The ironic part about this is the people who benefitted most from this were the dupers who RMTd. They duped and loaded up their character to sell for an absurd amount of money. Now those accounts are banned, they people who bought them lose thousands of dollars, and they cheaters prevail. Probably a very small number that applies too, but ironic none-the-less.

So some people got banned. I heard about this exploit a while ago. I didn't get all of the details, but I didn't pursue them. I wasn't interested. Does that make me a better person than all of the people that exploited the glitch? Nah. It does mean that perhaps some of us are more aware of the potential consequences. I see a lot of the people that were hit with this saying that the punishment was excessive for the infraction(s) committed. I think that you're all missing something. Square Enix said that they reviewed the logs over the last year or so. They didn't say that you were only banned for using this exploit. It's quite possible that a few of you were chatting about windower or other third party programs, and that Square Enix saw that while they were looking for evidence of the duplication. You might have been nailed for that also.

There's so many people here that are saying things like, "get of your high horse" but a few months ago, when people weren't in the know, it was "you suck at FFXI and we're cooler than you, so we didn't tell you shit". The tables have turned and for all of the previously spurned, they are kicking you all while you are down and most of you deserve to be treated like shit by them. Turnabout is fair play.

You guys fucked up and got caught with your pants down. You broke the rules. No one really gives a crap what your reasons are. I don't. If I think you're an OK person, it sucks that you got banned. If you're a douchebag, I'm thrilled that you got assfucked.

As for to track down who exploited this, I think it's pretty difficult unless a GM observes it personally. Reason being that the drops are already created, weather you use the exploit or not, it's already in the system. They don't count as extras or a invalid item. Highly unlikely it'll get traced until maybe now.

Way stupid for people who spread this publicly, if you are a true FFXI player who knows SE's ways in drops, especially in things like Salvage or other fights that have crap drop rates, this just evens the playing field. Anyone try requiem of sin fight and feel the pain? When was drop-rate part of the difficulty or challenge? Artificially creating difficulty is what it is. As long as the fight or event is difficult that's good enough for me, and if we get rewarded 2 times more than usual I think that's fair. Fuck the rest who don't agree.
