Stupid arguments from people.. ridiculous. Guess what: When banks mess up and put a deposit in your account for $177,250 instead of $1,772.50, and you take advantage of their error, you're in deep shit. Despite it being their fault, their error is unlawful for you to take advantage of. They WILL discover it, and they WILL come after you for it, and you WILL go to jail for it.

Terms of Service in the game state that it's your responsibility to report such exploits should you find out about them. You not only failed to hold up to your responsibilities as stated in the ToS by failing to report the error, but you took advantage of the exploit. Unfortunately, you've been placed in a position of responsibility when it comes to exploits by SE. Instead of doing your duty, you took advantage of the trust and exploited the situation.

Personally, I feel they did the right thing in temp/perma-bans. I always felt they would (eventually) come around after reviewing logs and temp ban clean accounts and perma-ban ones that have some dirt on them. Seems they missed quite a few unfortunately, if only ~1,000 accounts are having action taken against them.

THAT being said, yeah, I understand it sucks for the end game community because a lot of the people who took advantage of the exploit are people who are active in the end game aspects of the game. But god damn people, this isn't Monopoly. When you get a bank error in your favor, you don't get to cash in. You deal with it in a responsible way, or you get in deep shit.

People who got in trouble got what they deserved, and unforunately some people are getting off scott-free.

Actually..it's more like the people who were using it didn't admit how long they were actually using it till it was close to being patched, they could have used it from the get go for all anyone knows.

Also people who got hit that didn't physically do the duping themselves, couldn't you warp out of Salvage instead of continuing the run? Ever heard of guilty by association?

yeah i'm just saying that the floodgates really opened in the last month or so and that's when most people who duped did it. by comparison the % of people who were using the trick the whole time is rather small

I'm kind of wondering about this myself, I distinctly remember one particular salvage run. I was duoboxing a 7th person and dissolved from the alliance while staying in my party so I didnt have to pass any cells on my other character. It caused more problems then it solved because we noticed I still had to pass on my other character before we got our cells. I promptly disbanded my other character from his solo party.

Fact is that had I lotted those cells on my other character I would've duped them (if I understand the duping trick correctly). If they used some kind of script to look for duped drops then its definately possible the me (and my group) might have been flagged.

I had the bank double deposit one of my paychecks. I spent all the money and a month later they took it back and rammed my account into the negatives. I called and complained enough they took off all the overdraft fee's and apologized for the mistake, lol.

Its been 2hrs since ban start, and 1hr since my letter and I am still fine.

I received a letter as well. Did a pickup Nyzul run and the people I went with showed me a "cool trick". This was probably a week before the exploit was patched and the first I'd heard of it. Fortunately we didn't receive any items that run or things potentially could have been much worse than a warning email.

See it would be understandable if this was a new exploit, but people are admitting its been around for more than a year...which is why they aren't showing lenience...if people were happy to use the exploit for a year, they're more than happy to take their perma bans with pride as well.

That's another thing - the fact that it took SE over a year to get off their asses and do something about it doesn't help your case that they were totally justified. They said they've handed out perma-bans to people that used the exploit excessively, well guess what? If they hadn't screwed about letting it happen for so long whilst knowing full-well that it existed then no one would have had the opportunity to use it excessively in the first place. Also the fact that they never gave a public warning whilst the whole situation was developing, stating that anyone found to be involved with anything of this sort from that point onwards would be severely dealt with then people wouldn't have been lulled into a false sense of security and would've stopped.

You seem to think I'm trying to justify exploiting this glitch: I'm not. I don't think anyone is. The only point I'm trying to make is that temp bans (for people with zero prior warnings, at least) would have been a far better course of action.

You are at the mercy of SE when it comes to exploiting. No one here didn't know it was a exploit. SE does have a history of banning people who dupe stuff.

Sometimes depending on who you talk to would think it was their mistake, but don't think the same thing applies here.

It would have been nice if they just deleted all of the duped gear instead of banning honestly.

No one wanted to report it because they would have rather exploit it. So once SE started noticing a mark increase, that's when they got into motion. It will take any developer a long time to catch something that players could catch so so much more quickly (obviously) and report to them so they can fix it quickly. Compared to other things people complain about, this is one thing no one wanted to report so it's why I don't feel any sympathy for those who got perma banned because they could have avoided the whole thing and dealt with low drop rates because wouldn't that be better than completely losing all of your work?

Well from my experience most of the people who got LM-17 will just be temp-banned... BUT! The leaders of groups/LS's that did are the ones SE will go after for perma-bann because they are the ones supposedly setting the example for their LS's. My account is clean other then being a party leader for the salvage glitch 1x u.u. So i doubt i and others like me get banned, but SE has been known to do some stupid shit.
