Eh, I'm not too concerned with losing my acct. What we did was an exploit, no matter how you try to justify it. So, we all knew we were taking some risk by doing this. If it is permanent, we're just getting what's coming to us. :/

If we're talking about whether straight perma bans was too heavy of a punishment for ... Maybe for first time offenders it would have been better to go to temporary bans PLUS the stripping of any Salvage gear obtained through the exploit. This probably was not an option though given that the trick also existed to dupe Sandworm items. People who bought those items certainly don't deserve to get them taken, and deducting the appropriate amount of gil from dupers would be impossible.

But it seems SE scaled the severity of the punishment according to the level of abuse. Eyeballing the thread it seems those that felt most entitled to use the cheat (and probably used it more) got the harsher bans.

If you were a blatant abuser of the glitch, I don't really think first time offense matters.

Like I said, if people were happy exploiting it for over a year...why not ban them? No warnings needed. Apparently the exploit got out and that's when a lot of people here got butthurt the first time, and assuming that is when the exploiting picked up as well and when SE finally got into action and fixed it..the ones that JUST started to exploit it likely got temp banned/warnings, while the ones who exploited it the longest got the perma ban they deserved.

While there are also those that likely got a free get out of jail card.
