That PLD looks REALLY GOOD, but has some Definite "What the fuck are they thinking" Choices, it IS town gear, So that could shed some light on their Strange gear options...

Gluttony looks OK, so as a town gear its quite acceptable I suppose(I had Save the Queen equipped in town for Beatrix/FFIX reference). Coronet is also an OK town piece as it does not cover your face.

AF1 body...well, that's Valor Surcoat (AF2, Relic body equipment). Even if it was AF1, it would be an acceptable choice.

Yeah, I glanced over most of the rest of the gear once I saw the Gluttony Sword. looked like AF1 but I was mistaken. The sword combined with the Cape seemed to imply she was VIT stacking though, and I don't remember exactly what the belt was, but I'm pretty sure it had VIT too. And, I'm not French, nor do I ever intend to be, but you understood my meaning anyways. Anyways, Burtgang or GTFO.

Edit: Now that I think about it, it was probably a Warwolf Belt. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but I don't often see such high end PLDs using a Jelly Ring, and certainly not in their standing gear.

Town Gear. Just please stop posting pictures of people in town. If you see them using it in actual EXP/Alliance/Whatever serious settings that might count worth a damn then by all means but stop posting pictures of people in town.

They are both town gears. Period.
VIT stacking(!) at level 75 would include a Durandal(again, OK town gear for FFXII fans), pieces of Koenig/Kaiser, VIT rings not a fucking Gluttony Sword.

Windurst Woods = Town.
South San d'oria = Town.

Posting obvious town sets = not cool.

About the second screenshot, the only gimp I see is the BLM.

Because I run around on brd/blm, ninja/blm, smn/blm, ninja/whm all the time in town, and in beseiged, and ANYWHERE THAT'S NOT AN XP PARTY.

You fail. There is nothing "expensive" about that setup. If he was wearing 2 astral rings, maybe. There really isn't a piece of gear there that's above 50k except maybe the back piece or the body piece. That's not expensive.

Also, inbefore "oh, he might have other jobs levelled that use that gear", because god knows he wouldn't have that.

Energy Earring: 5k each
Electrum Ring: 7k each
Gold Hairpin: 9k
Holy Phial: 10k
Total: 49k (at current server prices- much of which has gone down in the last 6 months)

Awful lot of money to waste on town gear that no good WAR would even consider having in their inventory. Its a waste of inventory space, and its a waste of money that he could have spent on some decent gear and food that would support what his job is supposed to do. So, I stand by my assessment that the guy is just a moron.

Town gear is just what it implies. Gear that you wear around town, for fashion and to make you look good or cool. A WAR sub WHM that wears MP rings/earrings/hairpin and a Holy Phial does not look cool in anybodys eyes. Its just an embarrassment. And I would be willing to wager that your NIN/WHM doesn't run around in as much MP gear as you can possibly stack, but if it did, I would call you a moron too, other levelled jobs or not. And to the best of my knowledge, the guy doesn't have WHM beyond sub job level.

I run around in town in some pretty fucked up gear sometimes because I just changed jobs, and I don't necessarily grab all my stuff just to run to the auction house or go pl my friends or whatever.

I'm not saying that's what that war is going to do, but seriously, who the fuck cares what somebody wears on their way to the Auction House or whatever? If he's in town, he's not harming anybody anyway.

Posts of people standing at the dbox npc or whatever are very lacking in lulz, no matter how bad their gear is. Now something like this:

Standing in town isn't an excuse for idiocy. If it were, I'd be a God every time I set foot in Windurst.

If you're going to call it "Town" gear, then you should be wearing something provocative that people can physically see which invites them to check you out. I shouldn't have to check you just to see what weirdo gear you're wearing because then I'd probably never know. Rings/Earrings/Backs/Belts don't count, and only imply intent to use.

Also, if I remembered where I had put it, I'd post a pic of this one WAR who always used full AF2 in Dynamis. Nothing else, no gear swaps, not even +1, just AF2. Also, she'd always come on some weird sub jobs for her own weird reasons. Example being that when she was levelling BLM she liked to sub THF to try and crit her nukes. If it makes you people feel any better I'll try and dig it up.

Town gear is exactly that - IN TOWN. Not fighting, not being used. Just worn. If you think that I'm going to fight Tiamat on my 75 whm in my chocobo gear, chocobo wand, flower on my head, and sniper+1/rajas on my hands, you're greatly mistaken.

And if I saw you trying to Tank Tiamat that way, I would have to assume you're serious about it. Just as if I were to see a WAR/WHM stacking MP gear that I would have to assume that person is serious about his job choice. I agree, that if you're wearing full AF or Event gear, or even mis-matched garbage that looks disgusting, then yes, location would make all the difference. But if you're gear and job combination actually makes sense, then it must be assumed you're serious about it, in which case no location in the world could make that pic any less akward.

And yes, I am wearing only a Sorc. Coat and Kirin's Pole in that pic. All my other gear was in my mog and I was just coming back from farming Rams in La Theine. Doesn't make me look any less stupid, and I'm willing to laugh at it, but at least both pieces are ones that I actually use on BLM. One more than the other of course.

Actually I've seen that PLD in the same/similar gear on exit from Dynamis as that shell goes right before us. And guessing since that picture is at the trail makings in Windy it was right before going in.
