Suffice it to say, his point was still largely correct. Ben's stats aren't spectacular 80% of the time, the 10-15% of the time they are spectacular are almost always when it counts. Ben is the anti-fantasy elite QB. I'd hang up on stupid ass callers arguing that Ben isn't great too.

As far as saying the game was dominating and COULD have ended up easily x-x or whatever...you know when you listen to Colin that you DO NOT bring up hypotheticals...Need I link the Purdue caller? Arizona got trouced in the first half. Even if you guys go back and look at you own posts you'll find several "it's over...yada yada yada".

At least Ben didn't completely suck balls in the game like he did to get his first Super Bowl ring, although until that TD pass it wasn't looking great. If Rodgers-Cromartie didn't have, well, DB hands, BR's #s would've looked even worse.

Uh... so? I'm one of the ones who said it was over, because I was too shortsighted and only looked at the first quarter. It's been shown time and time again that Time of Possession doesn't always mean everything. Look at a lot of College Football games, or at Pats games last year when their offense was putting up 40+. Sometimes, teams just score so quickly and make it close/win the game, even if the other team has the ball for 5+ minutes more.

Either way. Fact remains that no matter how much the Steelers "dominated" the Cardinals in the first half, it was still 10-7 until Kurt's ill-advised pass to James Harrison that lead to that game changing TD. Also, Colin talks about hypotheticals a lot of the time too. He just doesn't like being wrong on the air when talking to callers. He's an entertaining listen, but let's face it. We don't go to Colin Cowherd for all of our sports stats/knolwedge. We go to him to listen to him act like a twat, and be really good against the Vegas spread. That's it.

Agreed, arch. I remember two passes specifically that Cromartie dropped. If he was like the other Cromartie for SD, Ben could have had 3 picks.

It's gonna take me a few days to get over the officiating. I know the refs didn't lose the game for the Cardinals, but I certainly felt they made it easier for the Steelers to win. Now I know how Seahawks fans feel (still hate them though). Every borderline call was made in favor of the Steelers on the field.

    1. Personally, I thought Ben scored before before his knee was down, and was really shocked they overturned that call. Thought it was a bad challenge by Whisenhunt.

    2. If Harrison had been ruled down inside the 1 instead of a touchdown on the field, I'm not sure there was conclusive evidence to overturn it had it been ruled that way either.

    3. Roughing the passer on Dansby was pretty weak call. The other 2 on that drive were earned though.

    4. Cardinals player would have been ejected for throwing a punch. NFL Defensive Player of the Year get's a 6 inch penalty.

    5. Safety could easily have been called on the play before the holding in the end zone. Keyshawn put it best, the NFL doesn't like to award safties unless they are blatant.

    6. The missing flag for Holmes celebration. I'm sure it wouldn't have made a difference if the Cardinals had to start from the 35 or 40 with 28 seconds left instead of the 25 >.>

    7. NFL head of referees is stating the replay official did review the "fumble". But why didn't he buzz the referee? It's not his job to decide the play, it's to determine if the call is borderline enough to warrant the referee looking at it. I saw incomplete pass, maybe the ref would have seen fumble. But not to review it is ridiculous. Tack on the 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty for removing the helmet, and you could have been looking at a one pass from the 30 for the trophy. For everyone saying they saw a great game, don't you feel a little cheated that you didn't get to see Larry try to pull down 1 more jump ball?

Yeah, yeah, sour grapes, I'll get over it. Steelers did everything right on the final drive...except when Holmes let the ball go right through his hands. The Cardinals had every chance to stop them on the winning drive, but couldn't hold onto Ben, and the secondary was always their glaring weakness. Showed me DRC still has a lot of learning to do and that Aaron Francisco should never be allowed on the field again.

Guess we'll have to settle for seeing an NFC banner raising instead of a SB one at the opener next year.

    Yes.

Although every Cardinals offensive play that didn't involve a jump ball to Larry Fitzgerald made me feel a little cheated.

I think it sucks but knowing Bidwell here comes the fire sale and the implosion of the team. I mean it took him what? 15 years to put another decent team on the field? I mean the Cards have had chances, I remember Denny Green drafting Fitzgerald and some Cardinal fans being upset with such a high draft pick being used on a WR. I remember the whole "Dennis drafted him because he knew his family in Minnesota, hes doing it as a family favor blah blah blah". Sup best WR in football.

You guys had Big papa pump David "I shoot dem roids" Boston, Corey Chavous, Thomas Jones, Andre Wadsworth, Pro Bowler Kwame Lassiter, Pat Tillman, Chuck Cecil, Michael Pittman, Frank Sanders (Damn I used to love him at Auburn) Jake Plummer, Marcel Shipp, Aneas Williams, Eric Swan etc... but Bidwell doesn't nurture talent, he uses it for 3 years and purges it. It sucks but Anquan is next.

Most of these players had success once they left the Cardinals and it makes you wonder what the Cards would have done in the course of the past 2 decades if they actually USED their talent instead of being mediocre and jettisoning them to other teams throughout the league. It's fucking sad, but Bidwell should not be anywhere near a Lombardy trophy. He and Mike Brown are the scourge of the NFL and exemplify everything that is wrong with ownership.

Sure Jerry, Al and Dan are complete tools and should not own teams but you can never say they don't buy talent and at least put effort into winning.

My biggest issue was the non-review at the end of the game. Even if it wouldn't have been overturned it was worth it to look at. The 15 yd penalty tacked on if it was ruled an incomplete pass would have made yesterday's game THAT much better. All in all I was pleased none the less.

If it weren't for Dockett they wouldn't have stood a chance. He came to play last night.

No you wont. I am still pissed off at John Kasay for kicking the FUCKING BALL OUT OF BOUNDS during the Superbowl vs the Patriots after we tied it up and giving Tom FUCKING Brady the ball on the 40 with 55 seconds to get 2 first downs so Vinatieri can win the game.

    DAMN YOU KASAY!!11

Time does not heal that sting unfortunately. Ask Mr. clutch Jake Delhomme how he likes living in Charlotte nowadays -.-

I'm still not over Neil O'Donnell's give away fest from the SB against the Cowboys. Had he not blatantly thrown so many damn picks, they would have won their 5th.

I really don't like Big Ben.

And he pretty much threw 2 int's in the first half that ARC couldn't get a hold of.

But uh yeah I'm pretty sure the only other people even remotely close to winning 40% of Super Bowls played during their careers are Bradshaw and Brady. Not that his career is anywhere near over, and who knows what happens in the rest of it, but meh.

It's kinda funny how the Steelers have 6 Super Bowls, more than anyone else, and it's all between 2 quarterbacks... and neither of them gets much respect. Hell, Bradshaw made arguably the play of the century to win one of them, took a massive shot and got a concussion in order to make said throw... and the receiver got MVP lawlz. I guess we'll see if Ben can really follow those footsteps by finally getting MVP in his 3rd super bowl, and winning one more for good measure after that.

superbowl was lame, horrible horrible calls. I did not think that was a fumble in the end.

Bad calls ftl, this season had way too many bad calls from the refs, it was infact the worst season i've ever seen from the refs.

That ill-advised pass (I didn't think it was that bad of a bass, Harrison just deaked him pretty hard on the fake to draw Parker into a blocking position) still happened however, and it piled onto the domination by the steelers. The lead just grew incrementally bigger from the 1st quarter to the 2nd quarter to the 3rd quarter. The Cards were never really in the game until the closing minutes when they put up several points in about a 3 minute span. Usually, if I don't like what someone says, I'll be the first to say something about it...really didn't have a problem about the Ben comments or hanging up on the callers who try to pull stats out to say Ben is bad. I've been a ridiculous Ben defender over the past couple of years on these boards though. Anyone who argues that Ben isn't great doesn't deserve to call into a radio show and make me facepalm while I'm trying to work anyway.

Also, never really thought about until Lordender just brought it up, but this probably had been one of the poorest officiated seasons in a very long time. I wonder if it has something to do with a fallout of the NBA betting scandle and refs/officials just trying too hard to get it right. I think Tirico said it best, last night's game wasn't bad about missing calls, it was just "over-called".

I thought it was a fumble for sure. My drunk eyes saw someone's hands on top of the ball prior to Kurt trying to "push" through those hands in an attempt at a "pass". He was trying to "throw the ball" after he was wrapped up, with someone else's hands on the ball to force an incomplete.

Another interesting (no)call that I thought it was just a missed tackle was a blatant block in the back on Hightower on what appears to be Lamar Woodley. Officials are totally out of position, but again, just another example of every close call on the field going in favor of the Steelers.

I think I'll get over the game because Pittsburgh did make some key plays when it counted. I just really hope I never have to see #47 on the field again. Fumbles on the INT return against the Eagles when that might have sealed the game early on, then loses Holmes on 2 plays during the winning drive. Terrible.

Well, on a lighter side, it looks like comcast users in parts of Arizona got a little bonus coverage after the Fitzgerald TD in the 4th quarter.

As I said at the beginning of the Superbowl to my friends, if Ben hadn't fallen to #11 in that draft and gotten picked by the Lions instead, he'd be out of the league by now. He rides that Pitt D like a Pony Express horse.

    True facts
