    You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    does anyone here read chinese >.>;

    So, one of my jobs is working at a tutoring center in the afternoons. A student we got a month ago is straight from China and spoke zero English. Without going into too much detail as to why this fails, I'm kinda stuck trying to teach her English with no ESL books/programs. I'm mostly doing some picture association nouns, and minor phrases. Added to that, California is awesome and cut their ESL programs in schools about 5+ years ago, so really I'm the only one teaching her.

    Anyways, I have found a few websites that have some noun games for her to help build vocabulary, but I was interested in maybe finding some Chinese websites that help kids learn English. Of course, this is a problem because I can't read Chinese so I don't know what to look for.

    It does have to be kid-based, since she is only in 3rd grade, and mostly knows that simplified kanji they teach kids first.

    If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated.

    haha i'm stupid, I just re-read and you said read chinese.
    Would still be great to know if the child spoke Canto or Mand though.
    But another questions, Simplified or Traditional Chinese?

    Found a program but in a bit of a hurry so can't try it out yet:

    I can ask my friend later who will likely have an answer when I get back. Sorry if anything I mentioned doesn't help ;;

    I assume he from China or Hong Kong and every other places, then should be Simplified. Since lots of students I have met recently who came from China, they just refuse to speak english even though they have been here for years

    But if from taiwan it will be Traditional then, but this should be rare cases.

    Can't kids that age still learn a language fairly quickly just by being immersed in it?

    Yeah they can, works for most anyone of any age.

    I'd recommend going to a OfficeMax if you have one in your area; they usually have learning software that would help you, and generally it's pretty cheap. OfficeDepot/max have the widest selection of learning software so it would be a good place to look.

    that's why cali doesn't have an esl program, but we're trying to help speed it a little (not like make her magically fluent in a few months), but giving her the extra push. Esp, since she just sits there in class and doesn't understand anything the teacher is saying. Anything can help ya?
