I hope this snowballs into another shitstorm, it would amuse me greatly.

Agreed.
Could G4 suck some more Blizzard cock? I'll admit that I enjoy AotS, but the idolization of WoW anytime any MMO is brought up is pretty annoying.
SE please include something like 'Join the hundred thousands/500,000 today...' on your internet banners or commercials or whatever form of advertisement.
It's troubling when games with 150k or less pops avoid the "people still play??" while FFXI doesn't lol.
The bannings don't surprise me. What surprises me is that SE waited for so long, then decided to ban anyone involved. It almost seems like they were baiting people, really. Maybe they thought relics and good gear had become too common and wanted to get rid of it like they've gotten rid of gil by banning RMTs. XD
Why, you ask yourself, would they cut off 550 people, a worth of $7,150+ (not counting mules) a month, out of their game for their own screw up? Because their ego is that big, or perhaps, because it's more for amusement than money now. It makes me think about how when I played Roller Coaster Tycoon for the first time, and all I ended up doing once I got bored was making roller coasters that just launched carts into the air to crash and burn... Then more people would just get right on.
Wow. I mean I know it's Kotaku but god damn do these glorified blogs even know what journalistic credibility is?
Sick to death of these sites sucking Blizzard cock and bashing FFXI on anything it does good or bad.
The attitude of both the Kotaku and G4 articles is just sickening from a purely journalistic standpoint.
I wish people would stop saying the bolded part. Every game company won't catch all glitches and errors which is why damn well most of them will ask the player to report them so they can be fixed. It's "their mistake", but who's more at blame? The idiots that abused it, or SE for not being able to catch every single error in millions of lines of code even though the event itself was still pretty functional in general?
Tbh i hope it showballs into another shitstorm like the Pandemonium Warden endless fight as while i agree the ppl who cheated needed to be punished and mebbe temp banned for a few days the Permabans afink arent fair when it takes down ppl who are long time players and generally good ppl. Also has to be said that this was a fuck up on SE's Side that didnt involve 3rd pt software and to me it looks theyre just banning ppl because they got caught with their pants down on this issue for being too slow/lazy to fix this sooner.
Kotaku: Hundreds of Retards Blog about Video Games
Well, bad coding was what started it all, but I was actually talking about the fact that they took a year to fix the problem. That was their real mistake. Bugs and glitches happen. Leaving them around for people to take advantage of, then after a year of letting them use it, banning them for it, shouldn't happen. And if it does, it's kind of hypocritical to treat it like such a serious matter, when it took them so long to get around to it. :/
Anyway, I thought this was a good article relating to this topic.

I'm sure if people asked about Salvage drop rates instead of Absolute Virtue (which much less important overall) at every interview these past two years, there's a much greater chance the problem would've been addressed sooner. The fanbase should get a grip on what's really important.
getting AV drops to get them banned for duping salvage = important
I read both the Kotaku and G4 article and as a reporter, I have to say the G4 one is utter trash. How subjective can you be, sheesh.
Not to surprising seeing as how... well... G4
So does anyone else at all think that it's strange that, knowing about this for so long, SE has just sat by monitoring logs this whole time, waiting for players to fall into this trap, instead of fixing it right away?
SE has obviously known about this for at least long enough to do this 'monitoring'. So why not fix the problem, then go back and do the punishing, instead of leaving it out there as bait?
People still see G4?
