First anime didnt have fanservice. In fact, it was a lot more tame than it is in the manga. The animation was beyond terrible though, and there was a few fillers here and there.


Everyone trash the first series, but it wasn't that bad. It was good enough to make me want to read the manga.

We're finally getting somewhere with the Asuna storyline, whew. That is a very interesting trick, I really like the way it was set up. It was also interesting that they implicitely stated that the Shinmeiryuu Governer guy went right through Negi's magical barriers. Sounds suspiciously similar to how Asuna went through Eva's in the beginning, no? Perhaps Magic Cancel is not unique. Perhaps the Shinmeiryu guy (who was Eisun's apprentice no less?!) was, oh, say, related to Negi's mom. Like, say, her brother. Perhaps Magic Cancel runs in the family.

Also, Imitarate, if you read love hina, you'd know that the zanmaken series of technique are the kind of technique that can bypasses object to reach its target. Motoko practiced it by cutting rocks while Keitaro was tied to it, so I'd imagine that the governor general just used that to bypass the barrier to go straight to Negi.

Ah. I have, but I didn't think to apply the technique to magic barriers. I suppose that works. I still like my Ridiculously Improbable Theory, but "Ken loves Shinmeiryuu" is also a pretty good way to look at it.

Also, the last page with Negi was fucking amazing again. Asuna's origin were obvious for a while, but the main character picking that up and announcing it to other...it's something you rarely see in shonen.

I believe the ability from the last chapter is a more advanced form. It was stated to originally be an exorcism without harming the person, whereas "Demon slicing" may be for general usage against evil spirits/creatures.

Kinda weird that Setsuna's throwing the lolbranchfamily excuses though, since she pretty much used every other Shinmeiryuu tech Motoko did and then some...short of Aoyama Motoko-ryu: Kokuhakuken

But whatever, not like it's meant to be consistent...let's just focus on Rakan being fucking awesome.

Seemed like a lot of stuff happened this week. Arika potentially still being alive (since she obviously wasn't executed 18 years ago, right?) as well as not being bad (granted we all kinda knew that) and the magic world is Mars? Never would've guessed that one.

I'd be annoyed that there's no chapter next week, but considering this week took 2-3x longer to read than an average chapter of other manga, coupled with the fact that he has to draw like 15 different girls in different dresses through the whole thing I can understand it taking some time.

Totally called Mars plot twist. The names on the map were giving it away in the first picture (around chapter 200), the large continent shape was very similar as well, and the 10 000 kilometer distance implied the planet was the size of Mars.

I thought they were keeping it secret on purpose, because most explanations would be lame and cliché. I wouldn't be mad if it's explained thought. She wasn't my favorite character, but the part she played was still interesting.
