started the manga because of this thread, just wanted to say thank you; was in a pissy mood earlier but how can you not laugh at the antics and obvious fanservice lol

Pactio is the energy boost from the master, which naturally is dependant on the the master's strength

Being a pactio target boost the overall strength so assuming the channel is maintained, the system will lead to probably infinite energy, at least for the pactio duration (if that actually matters, I don't remember seeing it ever enforced again after negi's fight vs fate in kyoto)

There seems to be different levels of Pactio activation. There's some kind of default low-level power boost, there's Artifact use which seems to be independant -- it doesn't seem to need to even be in RANGE of pactio powers to activate, since Asuna uses hers to fight the dragon with Setsuna. Then there's "activation" which they don't seem to have done very often, and that seems to work for the Magister as WELL as the Ministra -- in his second fight with Kotarou, he activates the contract for himself (and doesn't he do that during the Summoning with Fate too?). That's the part I have trouble getting. It's easy to figure out how the Ministra pact activates, drawing magical power from the Magister's reserves. Perhaps the pact channels/refines the magical power in a specific way, and it can be looped back to the Magister to be more useful than a direct spell cast?

The last time I remember pacts being "activated" on-screen (as it were), though, was when Negi began training under Eva. He activated all of his pacts for a training exercise. Maybe..........MAYBE HE NEVER TURNED THEM OFF! GASP! ...anyways.

...yeah. That was a really innovative... if.... RIDICULOUSLY BROKEN... idea for an artifact. I'm quite pleased. All he really needed was the one, I think he only used the second to show it wasn't limited to the first one.

Nice, he used the artifact in the first panel. I know I've said the same thing 3 posts ago, but damn, gotta appreciate how fast they progress.

Artificact is overpowered, but who cares, it's not like it really matter in this manga.

I liked that he won't even use the artifact in this fight. Gonna be interesting to see how Negi will handle the battle now.

It looks like we're going to see 4-5 amazing chapters of this fight, based on the pace we're seeing now, unless Ken really throws a monkey wrench in the spanners (which I'm kind of not expecting, this fight should be fairly straight-forward). It might go longer if we see more Shadow/Kotarou, which I don't mind too much. It can't be as bad as... certain other nameless shounen manga's side-character fight focus. One-chapter fight at most, and it'll probably be an interesting one anyways.

It's actually a very sensible artifact; despite his choice of magical styles, Negi really does rely a lot on his social and emotional connections with his ministra. There is the slight flaw in that it seems to take physical manipulation to change its power, but if he starts off like he did this time as his default mode, then switches up for preplanned things or if he has time mid-fight.

I'm actually liking the ridiculous overpowered aspect. It keeps things fun, and given the type of magic used, it should be flashy and ridiculous.

I don't think this battle will last 4-5 chapters. I can't really think of any single fight that lasted this long. It's generally 2 chapters at most. It will probably be nearly over by the end of next chapter, or the one after.

Felt kinda lazy to backtrack, what is rakan's pactio ability anyway? Is it the unlimited blade works deal?

I always thought that was his innate ability, anyone have chapter where he show/explain his artifact? I seem to remember him showing/using it before.

It is his swords, yes. He can create any weapon he can imagine. Try chapter 200, when Rakan is formally introduced.

I dunno what I was thinking when I wrote 4-5, Kay. I was tired. I started with 2-3 and worked my way up to 4-5 somehow. Must have been thinking of something else.

Also, how do you make a pact with another guy? A kiss sound gay. i think it was said earlier in the series, but I can't remember.

Actually, scratch that, wasn't Albireo's reasoning in Nagi still alive is that his pactio card wasn't broken yet?

Well. I suspect some Harem Comedy elements have obfuscated this (since it's much more funny to have Negi kiss a bunch of girls, I guess), but they have stated that there are other ways to form pactio. They're just more complicated. I imagine some kind of ritual is involved, perhaps a blood bonding or something.

Nagi could also be bi.

I thought chamo said it was 1000 partners...not necessarily girls, but then again chamo's sayings are about as canon as rakan's power chart.
