I was all 'wtf?!' at the sword... then the artifact in play proper and could only think one thing...
    Negi h4x!!!

And yet he decided to go barehanded,
seems like Negi took a couple of levels in badass while training

I want the next chapter to come out sooner.

ok, probably whoosh, but how come no one is turning into an ermine lol? I'm on chapter 59 of the manga and I swear, this is like the 9th person to discover he's a mage

This premise was more or less dropped along the way (or at least, it's not as dramatic as they first said). You get turned into an hermine when you fuck up bad enough for the magic autority to notice. If you can keep thing under control, you will be fine.

Half of the people who discovered he was a mage were already exposed to magic anyway. Yue, Nodoka, Asuna and Kasumi are the only normal people who found out, and 2 of them already made a pact.

    [edit]

And where is the new chapters. It's apparently the end of the fight already.

Jesus christ...he just creamed rakan like that...

I'm sure the standard get up before 10 shit is incoming...but god damn, that was pretty awesome.

Kotaro's new form is pretty cool too, good to know he's not gonna be just the titless escort...at least for now anyway.

Kubo needs to take some pointers from Ken. That fight was crazy, I do hope Rakan was holding back a bit or something though, otherwise Negi is too OP atm lol

Yeah, like Zil said, expect standard up before 10 twist. Though it'd be a real twist if Rakan DIDN'T get up, it'd also be a bit anticlimactic. This new form is ridiculous (which isn't a bad thing! ridiculous is fun, retarded is bad), but so is Rakan. I'm not entirely sure I'm following this, but I'm somewhat amused by the "nobody but Eva and Negi have ever used Magica Erebus before" comment from Kamo, it pretty much gives Ken carte blanche for various deus ex's. Not that he needs it, it IS magic after all, but there you go.

It's like he all but ignored the whole magia erebea's life shortening aspect on that one...

Either that or negi really won't live long enough to reach puberty.

From what I read the Nagi + Ako conversation happened after the fight, was that all just a flashback and so Rakan does have the chance to get up still?

Decent chapter in overall. Negi is a bit too overpowered right now, but w/e, it was still nice. I liked the explanation that Rankan let Negi have the first few hits but got surprised. It would explain why Negi won.

Kotaro's transformation was cool, but he deserved more than 1 panel for his fight.

Reread it again and it says "two days earlier" for the Nagi/Ako stuff, so yeah, most likely Rakan will get up, probably his partner guy too so Kotarou can get some more panel time. Even if Ken keeps fights fairly short, this is a bit too short for the level of fight this was supposed to be, lol. Granted it was also a fight thrown in there as a big surprise so he may be wanting to get back to Fate...

I think I'll stick with my original theory, the Rakan vs Negi fight will be interrupted somehow by Fate.

True enough, but it would become a bit too similar to the fight against Takamishi.

I'm certain Fate is going to hit the stadium soon. Yue wouldn't be guarding the stadium if they weren't going to be attacked during the matches, and it's been a while already since they kidnapped Asuna.

though his magia is strong rakan is considered to be one of the strongest in both world's so he has some exp. and negi has only had a few major fight's and even in those his enemy's were either weekened by a barrier or used tech to fight

if negi came out on top in this battle it would really destroy the plot since rak-san is already stronger than fate and then that would make negi stronger than fate and completely blow away the struggle with fate & co.

I used to read the Del Ray books. I got up to Volume 14 which was the end of the Mahora Festival Tournament when I stopped reading Negima (and all manga pretty much). I saw that Negima was up to Volume 20, so I picked up Volume 15, read it, and went back and bought the rest.

I gotta say that the Mahora Festival arc was amazing. If you think about it, the arc spanned like a year and a half and it never seemed to drag on at times.

So I went and caught myself up to date on One Manga and am now confused as fuck.

First off, character development wise, Eaglestrike took the words out of my head on the first page. It seems like Akamatsu hit a point where the characters follow a cycle of train > fight and kick ass > fight and barely win > train..etc. It's been mentioned several times already, but the manga has a very Dragon Ball-esque quality to it. I get that there's much more to the plot line than just fighting, and that Akamatsu himself pokes fun at the Dragon Ball qualities via Rakan's power gauge and this page, but it gets kind of monotonous at times.

Also, all of the girls in Negi's entourage have gotten strong as fuck. Originally, Kaede and Setsuna were the only two who had any combat prowess, but now even people like the Library Girls have some degree of fighting expertise.

Also, am I the only one confused as fuck about certain aspects of the storyline? Maybe it's a product of having speed read 100+ chapters in a period of a few days so I'm sure I missed a few things, but it just seems like a lot of shit got pulled out of nowhere.

Fate runs away from Eva almost immediately during the Kyoto arc, but he's actually one of the most powerful beings in the New World. Is Eva really that powerful?

Why is Alberio stuck under the World Tree?

Who exactly is Asuna? I get that she's some princess that someone wanted to use for her power. Is she a princess of Ostia? If so, is she supposed to be related to Arika who is supposedly Negi's mother? So, there's an implied romance between Negi/Asuna who are actually nephew/aunt? Being this is, at some level, a harem manga, I'm not thinking too much into that, but can someone explain what role did Asuna play in the past? How did she end up with Nagi and co?

The library girls have a few tricks, but they get major help from others against any serious foe. Granted Yue actually has some real training under her belt now and has always been the studious type (the only thing I don't get is how she's a baka ranger when she's the book-geek) so she picked things up quickly. Honoka can see the future, kinda OP and in the hands of anyone more capable would be OP...yeah Negi has that now...

Yes, Eva is that powerful, she's up there with Nagi and Rakan, Nagi is supposed to be the #1 force in the world(s) and was only able to bind her to a few mile radius with the help of a very powerful magical entity (the world tree) and her power still comes back occasionally (every moon cycle she gets some powers back). Also I believe Eva only got caught with the curse because she was romantically interested in Nagi and he tricked her into it (although honestly I think he wanted her there to train Negi and it's part of a grand plan to make Negi the only one who can defeat super mega badass monster 2.0)

Asuna...it isn't 100% on exactly what she is yet. I think the strongest thing to go for is that Asuna is the daughter of the thousand master + the princess...who is I think the "tomboy princess" who gave Negi his card? On top of that incredible magical combination she was born with the rare ability to negate magic. So I'd say Asuna is the half-sister of Negi, which is unfortunate as those two are the pair I like most. Though there's also the chance Asuna was born a few years earlier and wasn't the daughter of Nagi, I'm not 100% on the timeline as I think there were two big battles, one 14/15 years ago and one 10 years ago. She ended up with Nagi and co. because she was the target in the big war being fought and they needed to save her to help stop the war (if royalty/small children is killed peace talks become a little harder to make). My ORIGINAL assumptions were that Asuna was somehow related to the yet unnamed guy in the Nagi photos who carries the sword Asuna can now use as her artifact, that may still be true, we'll see.

They mentioned many time she is one of the most powerful being in both world. I'm pretty sure they mean it.

Now, I agree there is a huge gap between Fate's power back in kioto and now, but I don't think it really matter. They could easily make up an explanation at this point if it raise issues.

In the end, surprise element in Negima seem to matter a lot more than raw power level when it come to win a fight.

    [edit]
I'm more curious of the reason why they kidnaped Konoka. Her power seemed important back then, but it never went anywhere.

We aren't suposed to know yet. My guess is similar to Eaglestrike's, but it could go anywhere.

Yue is just lazy. She already said she would be able to get good grade if she cared.

Wasn't she needed as the sacrifice to unseal the kishin.

You know, the one that lasted 2 whole pages once Eva shows up.

And yes, Eva is just that strong, all those mention from the magic association girls about her bounty in the magic world during the magical festival and rakan's chart isn't just for show really.

Ok, maybe they were, but throughout the series, it's been pretty much enforced that Eva is pretty fucking strong.

I was asking about the kishin more than Konoka. Why did they want to unleast that beast when Fate is stronger.

At the time, I don't think anyone knew Fate was as strong as he was. He never revealed himself to anyone. He was just tagging along with the monkey lady's plan IIRC. Eva and I think Eishun were the only ones who knew who he was at that time.
