I'm not so sure that the reason the gear wasn't removed was because duped vs. non-duped pieces of gear aren't discernible from one another. That's the best explanation I can imagine, but still. The person who got the non-duped piece of gear still participated in a run intended for duplication of cells/alexandrite/gear. It would have been more logical, at least in my mind, to have gotten rid of all items involved in the process of duping. What people are getting banned for is the act of duping itself, moreso than the obtaining of duped items really.

It's still only the first day. Give it some time, you know how slow SE works - they took 2 years to "fix" this glitch, after all. Maybe 2-3 weeks from now, after the dupers who were only 72'd come back, they'll summon them individually to Mordion Gaol and make them drop their gear.

I really want to hear how those who got permabanned feel about those who received 72's getting away with duping - e.g. Stanislav, anyone?

This thread has gone so askew that I now am reading some posts in a Donald Rumsfeld-esque voice. Fuck.

EDIT: Our only LM-17 came back today. We're at 100% operational capacity. Woo woo.

I feel like they didnt take the gear because letting you keep it, whilst having you on the last leg of your account is enough to teach anyone a lesson. If not, then let's see how long before the first temp-ban of this gets perma'd for saying "Crap" in /say and some overly emotional player taking offense to it.

All in all I'll go back to my original thoughts on this game, and think back to how many more of my friends are on 2nd-3rd accounts because they were banned for some reason it brings me to the conclusion that if you don't quit you'll eventually get banned for some reason, lol.

Correct me if noone gets that....I'm horrible at getting my thoughts into paragraph form...haha

I have a different take on why they didn't strip people of the gear. While I don't see any reason for them not to strip completed pieces arising duped drops, perhaps it might be difficult for them to make sure the duped drops are ditched. Salvage components can be stored with npc, and perhaps they don't have a way of checking that. Perhaps they can only see whether it's in your inventory, mog, etc. It would make a lot of trouble for GM's if they asked the formerly banned players to drop the duped goods, since people could say they did and the only proof maybe the logs which would be time consuming to check, even if it was stored with the npc. Then there's all the other stuff to do with the sell-ables too so they decided to do the easy option. Ban with a vengeance, and forget about the aftermath.

You honestly believe SE has no way of telling if you have something stored at an NPC? >.>;; If I remember correctly, they can also forcibly take away an item from you without you doing anything at all. They have the power to replace an item and review logs to see if you lost an item or dropped it, it only make sense they can take it away if they can give it.

I'd just like to say F U. only thing i got that was duped was cells and they perma banned me.

Edit: i was one of the group leaders of the ONE run we did together. The guy who taught us how to do it still has his character, got back on this morning, but mine's perma banned. The thf we brought with us also got temp banned, and my old friend from my first week on game got perma banned along with me. The Main monk, rdm and brd didn't get touched by it.

Wasn't the only thing you got then. I believe you were also awarded with ban.

Ya I feel lucky that me and my friends didnt get 5 years of work tossed down the shitter for that 12 alex and 1 macha's feet we got, since we were obviously the scum of the earth for it.

    And in before/after/stfu:

BUT YOU GUYS DESERVED TO BE BANNED<!>!!!

But seriously, welcome back everyone, and sorry to see alot of friends wont be coming back.

Perhaps they do, perhaps they don't. It doesn't really matter because we'll never find out. I know for storeable armour you get a claim slip in key items, but I believe you don't get one for salvage gear. I was thinking perhaps the GM's can only see what your char can see.

The other point I was trying to make though was that SE just took the easy way out. They did what ever they did with the logs once. Doubt they're going to do it again for the same problem. They took the easiest solution, i.e. the one with the least amount of work for all at SE involved. Consistency in the bannings was non-existent from what it looks like so you can tell they didn't put much effort in it, beyond what was needed to get names. That's what I was thinking.

I don't know how pouring over as many logs as they did was "easy"-- I mean by their standards that's basically divine intervention compared to the report-RMT-and-watch-them-farm-for-6-more-months normal behaviour. Consistency..... eh... I'm still waiting for someone to post saying they got perma'd for JUST cells. That would be a shred of consistency at least =\

Although I agree with you that there doesn't seem to be any particular standard on the actual bannings (besides obviously-proven repeat offenders), anyone who is left standing should be considered lucky. The "easy" way out would also to have been to just perm-smack everyone without any consideration whatsoever. Though in some ways that might have been easier, I appreciate that they put at least some thought into what they did... cells again being an example.

Regarding not being able to delete armors based on some being obtained legitly and things being stored at the NPC... duh, why didn't I think of that? That sounds like the sort of thing we have no proof that a GM could or couldn't do... especially since there's no key item for anything related. ...Then again, if you duped a particular 35 and didn't complete the piece... why the hell did you even take the duped 35? lol. If people were taking an ares body 35 for their 13DRK (just an example) they're dumb enough to deserve a banning anyway.

Being one of the more vocal people about this, I have to say that I wasn't anywhere near upset with the way that you approached it once you got hammered. You sucked it up and accepted the punishment. You didn't blame SE, or come up with excuses once it happened, and to me that is how a mature person should look at it.

Welcome back, and now you get to use that Usukane Haramaki finally!

I dunno, from what I've seen lurking on these forums, her going feral on us might be a rather enjoyable experience. In a way I might not survive mind you, but what a way to go?
