Just a thought that occurred to me.

Do you think all the bannings will affect the price of alexandrites?

I didn't say it was easy, just easier. I don't have a clue what kind of programmers and analysts they have there, but it's very possible they used similar techniques to the kind used to mine for information in DNA, Mass spectrometry, Protein sequence, and various other bioinformatic data. That kind of data can be very large. I guess one metric would probably be to look for two or more of the same item dropping to different people in the space of X lines or something.

My thought on this was that the person in charge just told the people who pulled up the names to put a ban mark on the accounts, but didn't specifically say which code. I noticed some people saying LM-11 was supposed to be an old code, so maybe they had some of the longer serving people handing them out. Although an idea that sounds more likely to me is that, like us, the people who found the dupers (since you need people to check the data), had varying opinions themselves on the severity of this, and issued as the individual saw fit. It's all guesswork anyway, but that's what goes through my head when I read all this. Although I'm slightly sour since I'll probably never get to see a salvage piece in my inventory anyway.

Some people have the capability to level up very fast these days, and if I had that capability, I wouldn't have much reservation in lotting it. There are also examples of people who have the 15, 25, 35's but lack the gil to upgrade it, and are just waiting on their KC or PCC or ZNM drop to cover the costs (or whatever someone does to make some gil). Wouldn't you hold onto that drop if you knew the likelihood of seeing it again was as slim as seeing your next KC?

Agreed, they should've stripped those with temporary bans.

While I agree with this, I'm not surprise that they didn't delete the salvage gear or whatever that's involved in the exploit. 3 days ban is really nothing.

Do you think all the bannings will affect the price of alexandrites?
Absolutely not. Despite the number of top players that got banned, it's only fraction to the actual number of players out there. It will have no impact on the pricing at all. Even when the duping that got patched, it didn't impact the price of alex's really. Only significant impact is when people are actually getting mythic weapons, and turning out the aftermath of the mythic weapons really do suck, and thereby making the mythic weapons not worth the actual effort of getting these, of course some weapon are exceptions, but that's moot. That's discussion for another thread, so sorry for the derail.

This... for real. Perma banning all of them would be genocide (but they are entitled to) would prefer they lose their shit and the gil for it.

My guess would be that it is too hard to determine the following: "ok, well...it did drop, so at least one of these pieces is valid...but which one?"

After going through over a year's worth of logs I'd pretty much say to hell with that and just toss out suspensions and hope those suspended realized they are quite lucky.

I think the scare tactics of "dont fuck with us again or your account is as good as gone" was the additional punishment on top of the 3day ban - not to mention a flagged account.

If they wanted to nix the Salvage gear, they would have just deleted all your pieces to make easier for them.

Actually, I'm one of those folks that hated Bush, never voted for him, and wish him a long life as unpleasant as the one he's delivered to my friends, family, and co-workers.

But I still think that anyone who cheats- you buy gold, you dupe items, you hack, whatever- to fufill your sense of entitlement gets you zero respect from then on in. I don't care that you think it sucks. It sucks for us all, equally when the Random Number Generator is the Lord Your God.

The second anyone goes around that to "get ahead", the whole concept of fair gets chucked out the window for anything, anything at all. Dupe for Gil, items, whatever, who cares?

At that point, you have cancer. The chemo is the banstick. Zero sympathy. Welcome back folks, hope you learned something from the suspension and play nice. Or stop playing.

Fair enough. Can we laugh at the people who duped oh-so-amazingly-hard-to-obtain 25s and 15s instead?

    And about bans over cells~

If his entire group never, ever duped any armors or 'drites and he/they still got perma'd only for duping cells with zeeero other chance of there being any reason on top... I'd be surprised. If anyone said anything about TParty or distance or aaaaanything, you can be damn sure the GMs would use that on top of the duping as a bonus reason for a ban. Assuming they visibly looked through even some of them without any kind of script parsing for double/triple-drop text, it's reasonable to assume they'd have seen such chat.

Ok, so if said person's entire group never duped any armors or 'drites ever, had no previous record, doesn't use windower and there was no talk in PT of anything suspicious like that... ok I'll admit that seems a bit excessive to me. Anything else? Ban. A follow-up to this would be nice if possible ... I'm just curious because it'd be the first instance of a ban in this over non-material gain. A follow-up would be great if possible =\

A friend left a comment in my LJ suggesting that SE should have removed all gil and and everything that account owned -- that the cheaters should be happy to be permitted to come back at all and with their levels.

That amused the hell out of me. Could you imagine the bitching that would go on after that?

They would just quit altogether I'd imagine.

There should be a permanent tag on those who were temp banned so when someone checks them they KNOW their shit is fake.

I highly doubt there's a swarm of GMs sitting around waiting for the tempban people to log back in, stand them aside and say "hey I'ma take your armor now". It's this reason above any other that they're probably not deleting. Well... duping the 'drites would be even more complicated to "delete" or reshuffle gil--actually that'd be impossible. If they can't fairly 'fix' that side of the duping it's unlikely they'd attempt the other side.

all your gear is i bet safe. If they wished to take items away they would of done what they did when i had a linkshell that a leader did not want me to have(long story) and would of stopped you from logging in.

how it worked was i logged into playonline and went right to the GM center. They then took that off (after talking to a gm) and i logged in. 2min later a GM /telled me ported me to jail told me to drop the shell and then ported me back to my homepoint.

so based off that id say all your gear is safe! grats!

    also welcome back^^
