Desktop Startup problem

As of like 2 days ago, when I start my computer my monitor stays black (the light flashes like its in sleep mode or something) and nothing comes up until I select my Windows profile login.

Before, it would show the bootup screen / whatever came on at the beginning / etc

Anyone know how to fix this? Soon, I was wanting to wipe out my computer and reinstall Windows from scratch. Is there any way to do this without seeing anything before the Windows profile select?

If you're using a DVI cable for your monitor, switch to VGA and see if that gets you the initial screens. If that doesn't work and you have onboard video available, use that input instead of your video card.

Regardless, starting from the CD should be as simple as tapping F12 on boot, hitting down arrow once to select CD/DVD startup, and then hitting any key to boot from the CD.
