Which makes your statement that episodic shows are just good for comedies just as absurd. Episodic shows are good for...anything that can properly utilize episodic content, whether that be through genre, characters, or storytelling. Medical Dramas, Crime Dramas, and comedies have proved excel in this format.
I also prefer episodic shows with a main plot interjected. I think shows like House that anyone can sit down and watch at anytime and have some semblance of fulfillment while still doing their followers a favor by having an evolving plot are the most complete shows on television. They have something for everyone.
Also, Dollhouse debuted with 4.7 million viewers which is pretty damn good in that slot.
I'm diggin it so far
thank God for Hulu
I loved the pilot; I think it's one of the strongest pilots I've seen from Whedon - but between the time slot and the channel, I still stand by my statement: It's gonna get cancelled.![]()
Why the fuck does he keep going to FOX. They're gonna own him again, I'm surprised they aren't airing the episodes out of order with this show too.
Fox was probably the only station willing to give him a chance. However, I'm not sure they are expecting from this time slot....it can't possibly works.
with Dollhouse being on Hulu, do you think that'll help it out? I hope so
Can anybody catch me up to speed about the time slot being so horrid? As far as I can tell, other then it being a Friday night and most people going out there isn't shit else on at that time. I find it to be one of the greatest time slots if you don't have anything else to do on a Friday night. Because quite frankly, not a damn thing plays at that time. It's a Sci-Fi show staring a hot chick. I don't think it's targeted audience has their Friday Night's booked for the next 18 weeks.
I can't think of a better time slot for it to be on... I guess maybe Tuesday now because scrubs was moved. But for the rest it can't compete with any other shows during the week.
Well, that time slot is typically the least watched primetime slot of the week other than saturday non-sports. Sunday through thursday are ripe with huge shows. I think TV guide said that if they attempted to put this in another time-slot, it would likely be cancelled much faster. On friday nights, the expectations are much lower and the competitions isn't really there. If shows overperform in the friday slot, they'll typically get moved to a better slot (Bones).
Oh, here's a wiki!

What the fuck, fox is moving prisonbreak to fridays. I guess that's good, Monday's were clogged.
That is exactly what I mean. A lot of people keep blaming the time slot for why it will be canceled so quick, but seemingly can't come up with a better time to put it. I think it is at the best possible time for this show. Seems like a Friday night snow anyway. There are to many huge shows going on throughout the week.
Tonight's episode was leaps and bounds better than the pilot. That's a good way to trend.
Ah, crap, completely forgot this was on, watching tomorrow I guess. >.<
Tonight's show was awesome. This should have been the pilot.
I don't think it was the pilot since there were certain plot points that required having seen the pilot to understand, if the pilot was the 2nd episode then this was the 3rd.
It was a great episode though.
I agree last nights episode was a lot better and I thought the first (2nd) episode was pretty good. I liked seeing the flashbacks, and Echo going all hardcore at the end and bucking the imprint protocal was interesting.
Wow, that episode was great. Seeing her do that arm motion at the end of the episode was interesting. >.>
So what do we know so far? An active has went rogue and killed a whole ton of people at the dollhouse. This active has found the ability to access all sorts of different programs from assignments he had been on. This active also left Echo alive during his raid of the dollhouse. Echo has recently shown a retention of her programs from past assignments. This active is said to be dead, but this seems improbable.
Well, after what happened to the guy pretending to be the park cop (after Echos handler left him alive he ended up being cut up just like her previous handler was @ the hands of the rogue active) I think it's pretty safe to say he is still lurking around somewhere. I am curious to see how the show is going to play out why he is obsessed with Echo, but seems to have no regard for any of the other actives he comes across.
