The old version of ApRadar (which I originally had) had the black background but all antlions (that were in radar range) were bunched at a single point on the black map as if the map itself was a singularity. I downloaded the new map pack and simply overwrote the map files in the original ApRadar folder with the new map files.why do you need a map? zoom level to 2 or higher and you can see pretty red dots in front of a black bg. or do you get lost in there?
Now it is still a black background, but the mobs are spaced around it properly.
This would be true if you could do the enm all the time. You can lvl a mule while you wait the 5 days for the enm to become available again. My mules still have anniversary rings, so this is something I may consider.
I can't dat swap or use Ap radar because I have to play on xbox for the time being. I will talk to him about using one or the other for Sheep in Antlion's clothing. I think Brothers would be the safest for us with blm/rdm x2. Can we both ES+ sleep the big one or will the little one die fast enough?
It's true regardless of how often you do it. It will take 24 runs to make up for the time lost - and that's if it takes you ten hours to level a BLM mule to 25 and it doesn't include the time it takes to gain 1200 exp., nor does it even factor in the time it actually takes to tractor and raise (twice - resting included). The point is that it isn't a substantial excuse for a mule, even if it will payoff over time (assuming a dollar a month for something used for a few minutes each month is of no consequence).
However, if you're a nice guy and look at it as saving time and effort for two people (even though you can technically both climb at the same time - as far as time spent, it still takes double the effort) it might be a little easier to justify.
Of course you can both ES sleep, but you should fairly easily be able to kill the second one quickly enough with two of you. It's solo where it becomes a bit more sketchy (and where the second ES isn't available). For your first run I would advise erring on the side of caution as a general rule, but with two people it shouldn't be a challenge.
Rdm/nin needs to kite. I've never done it with crimson, but it should be ok if you pay attention to your pathing. Basic strat is to kill 6 pets, and after that no more will pop. When the NMs pop pets, they stay iddle for like 30 sec or more. A rdm and a BLM can solo one NP, have the BLM solo the BLM-typ pets for aspir. The rdm can pop chainspell to speed up. After the pets are dead, proceed with the BLM-NM (blademail). He doesn't melee so it's easy. During this the rdm kites Parata. Finish parata quickly by Nuke>kiting around the pillar.
I just checked
1/156/15 = Brown antlions
1/156/16 = Tuchulcha
Been using apradar as well... but with the recent bannings, I have this feeling of uneasiness everytime knowing SE can "shock and awe" us again with the surprise banstick.
Not with RDM SJ.
Also, I find it funny how many people are all bitchy about Salvage dupe or the summoner party and saying "they don't want to get banned" but in a thread like this, the first thing I read about the Antlion ENM is "use this cheat." Whether you'll admit it or not, it really is one... ANYWAY, on the topic: For using a 2-3 man group for Antlion, what would you suggest is a better set up assuming on app? I think we have BST, WHM, BLM, SAM, NIN, and maybe another job or two... I was actually thinking WHM, SAM, BST might just do fine. Maybe?
with blm+rdm you could just sub whm really, though with 2 blms, i guess you'd still need one as /rdm.
rdm and any dd can do it fine. i have little trouble soloing it on rdm/blm. usually takes me 12~14:30 to finish, without CS.Also, I find it funny how many people are all bitchy about Salvage dupe or the summoner party and saying "they don't want to get banned" but in a thread like this, the first thing I read about the Antlion ENM is "use this cheat." While that is true, consider this:
SE suspects a static group of 3 doing this certain ENM over a long period of time (months+) consistently every 5 days. What's to stop them from checking logs only to find out that group has successfully popped only Tuchulcha, never any of other hunter antlions.
SE can decide that it's very obvious they are using cheat tools/.Dat modding which both is aganist ToS and legible to ban. The question is will SE use this assumption or not? Nearly everyone here feels SE won't give out bans based on assumptions, but still... I can't be easily comforted knowing that I won't ever see SE making a following statement of:
"We discovered an issue that players evidently were exploiting the game system using 3rd party programs and/or adjusting game mechanics in certain ENMs."
I know SE as well as most here does, to them...there's a difference between strong evidence and weak evidence (SE not being able to ban botters in dragon's aery comes into mind)
I'm sure most of the people feel the same way as I do when I say SE will figure this out eventually (keyword = eventually) When they do, what do you think their response to this will be?
As I've said, chances are SE is already aware that people do this. What they are working on is both finding a way to prevent it and to detect it in the future. If it has been done in this game, especially on a regular basis, I promise you they know about it. They just probably are trying to find a way to prevent it.
i doubt they care enough to do anything about it. they might ban someone if they catch them admitting they use it, but in the end, all it really does is make it easier for everyone, completely removes the maybe 5~10% chance of losing with a good rdm+dd duo, and makes it possible to solo. it doesn't effect the drops, it doesn't significantly effect how long it takes, and it doesn't really change the risk of losing, for any skilled group of 2 or more. in the end, it really just makes it a little less annoying (and possible to solo).
Which is circumventing the way the ENM is meant to be played. And I should correct my statement -- I don't mean that they are already working on making the app useless, but if I were a betting man, this is something I'd be putting money down on with them getting really serious with their STF. However, I am 100% sure they are aware of it. It's not a secret since the app is posted every where when someone asks about the Antlion ENM. And I agree, I don't think they'd ban anyone, even temporary, on this since the only different outcome is how many antlions were fought and the time it took to win.
