University of California, Berkeley is now offering a credited class on Blizzard's Starcraft

It's not as big a deal as some would want to believe. It's a really low key course taught by a Korean, most likely graduate, student; not anything amazing. Look at the assignments on their website, it's a joke, an easy A.

I am not surprised. I graduated from Berkeley in 0'6 and took a Family Guy and Curb Your Enthusiasm course during my time there. As someone else already mentioned, it isn't taught by professors, only endorsed by them. These classes are know as De-Cals. There is also a famous and incredibly popular Simpson's De-cal, which I couldn't take because it always fills up too quickly.

it would never succeed in korea. pro gaming teams are scarcely newly made, and existing pro teams rarely take in new players unless a new generation is needed; even then, how many players would they choose?

there's 12 teams, and even if they recruited at least 3 players per new season thats only 36 people... out of thousands and thousands of kids majoring in starcraft. there are private academies that teach starcraft professionally, but a lot of'em have been disappering... majority of the new generation pro gamers are found via recommendations, once-a-year scouting tournies and minor leagues if they manage to play good enough to catch attention.

from what i know, pro gamers just enroll into most IT related universities. although, there are a few elites who got into good universities(think IVY for korea) thanks to their popularity and success, although they dont really take part in classes... its just for status i guess.

Jaedong has been alternating with Flash at rank #1 until November 2008. Jaedong, dubbed the "legend killer", defeated many legendary players in the pro league including Boxer, who was almost invincible before 2003. Jaedong also won two league championship last year. Since then, most protoss players have had a strong comeback due to a change to a more efficient style, noticeably Bisu.

well honestly i was half joking, so dont take it the wrong way! but seriously, flash and jaedong are not what they used to be... they're still S/A rank, but they're getting pushed aside by the new generation.

bisu just plain started sucking after his win against jangbi, yesterday he barely passed for batoo by winning wild card. stork has also been doing horrible since his incruit finals win... i guess the curse is really kicking in lol
flash is losing his terran grip thanks to leta and FBH; FBH hasnt been doing so well lately but leta has fucked up every single terran upto date and has easily grasped his claim as the current king of terran. flash doesn't stand a chance against leta atm. as much as i hate sparkys, i have to admit leta is damn good.

jaedong? i dont know the IDs, but ever since the park twins (older bro is in ktf and younger in sparkys) emerged jaedong has lost his place as the new zerg leader. even his muta control is no longer "wtf", as good control is a basic for most new players... and honestly, the sparkys dude is better nowdays. zerg just plains sucks atm due to terran's flexible mech build and protoss' superwin and their 6dragons... have you seen sea vs jaedong? his weakness in long matches is costing him wins left and right!

i dont pay attention to rankings much, but i do watch matches commonly. do you follow the gaming scene daily? i watch matches on tv while eating dinner or during midnight runs lol
they're all good... the top rankers, but thesedays namesakes arnt really worth much. new players have popped out of nowhere and have been kicking asses of so-called 'legends' the older players are really losing their touch...

ps: anytime seriously kicks ass though, the latest ace vs samsung... i wasn't expecting khan to lose but holy fuck at anytime raping khan's 3ace lineup
