The first post is like a big slow motion facepalm... a chance to fight it, but not actually trying anything which hasn't been done before.
We know it's survivable technically, at least for brief periods...
The problem is figuring out why the SE video didn't show him in super facerape mode, and why we keep getting super facerape AV's.
There was something different in the behavior of the AV they were fighting, and the ones we seem to get, what was done differently?
Gtype:
1. Nothing happens when he AFs (to my knowledge).
2. He doesnt mijin, his pets do.
3. A tank can survive one Meteor, but being hit with another 2 seconds later = hmm.
Someone correct me if I am mistake Q.Q.
I like that you are suggesting ways to beat it w/o locking 2 hours, but lets see some testing of the one theory posted here and get some results before we go into more theory-crafting.
Astral Flow gives his Wynavs 300% TP. Absolute Virtue uses Mijin Gakure, but the Wynavs are the ones that blow up.
NO
FUCKING
MADAWCING
Ow my brain... He says that Meteor is Light Based, Mijin is Fire Based, and to give the PLDs double Minne.
Not a single mention of a Torque. This looks like an AV attempt (and methods) from 3 years ago... he's suggesting ways to survive AV as though it's somehow sustainable.
You know what'd be awesome? If we left our own crackpot theories out of this, and just tested the ones presented in the article? I guess that'd be too much to expect from you schmucks.
It's quite possible that the theory which has been posted is only workable after certain conditions are fulfilled, and I for one would hate to see what seems like a perfectly viable theory discarded because they didn't approach the fight in a manner which at least fits what SE has told us to do.
*group zergs JoL down without breaking his regen*
*group jumps on AV and starts zerging it*
*AV 2hrs*
*they have people 2hr with torques on to no success*
*theory gets discredited without proper testing*
Is there an AV thread that lists all of the theories that have been proven not to work?
My pet theory is that since in SE's video JoL was killed with a Water spell and the SMN summoned Levi just before JoL died (seriously who nukes with Water?), it seems strange that the first 2-hour following AV's in the chatlog was Manafont (also Water-based)...
There should be.
So far the simplest idea I've seen proposed but not tested is breaking his regen, then doing less damage than he would have regened, and this new observation about torques playing a role in affecting his 2hrs.
HOW ABOUT WE TRY THE THEORY IN OP A FEW TIMES BEFORE COMING UP WITH OTHER THINGS THAT DON"T MAKE HALF AS MUCH SENSE?
With good scientific rigor exercised, please.
Other thread will be more heavily moderated now. This thread is for more random AV conversation, the non-torque stuff.
Parse out how much damage/damage per second/minute you are doing to him, if you still don't get a lock after 2hring, vary the amount you were doing.
If you DO get a lock, the science lover in me says to see if you can change his behavior by zerging him briefly, but I'd say try to kill it if you get lucky.
Ill see what I can do with the torques/job comboes we have.
I like Septimus's post. I hate the way the word theory gets thrown around by people these days. Usually when a person says "I have a theory" what they almost always put forth is a "hypothesis", not a theory. In fact, I've never in my life heard a non science major use the term "theory" properly. The same people take things that really are theories and say "Well it's just a theory...", not realizing that theory means a lot more than what they think it means. Makes me want to slap somebody.

You're playing this down too much, Fealty doesn't help that much. A Paladin with full magic damage reduction and Fealty can still easily die to Manafont, and any mages in Meteor range too.
This is a good idea. 2 Rangers should be able to outlast Manafont with proper co-ordination.
Also a good idea, but who has that many people with magic damage reduction equipment?
I asked Sept to marry me for that post.
These ideas barely qualify as a hypothesis, much less a testable theory.
A theory has to contain the methods by which it could be falsified, it should make predictions, it has to be reproducible, it needs to be well documented.
ARE YOU SAYING GOD ISNT A PLAUSIBLE THEORY WOOZIE!? Because by your definition he is a crappy hypothesis!
I'm still 100% against this, primarily because this is the wrong thread for this.
(asideRemember, Max is interested in damage per second, so make sure you have a running average that spits out a number every single time AV's AI tries to make a decision. Because otherwise this information is useless. And make sure you start your calculators the second that AV pops otherwise this theory won't be useful.
