Um, please correct me if I'm wrong.... but isn't the thing that makes ffxi look so fucking awesome is the detailed textures and not the supremely superior polygon count?

FFXI models have a higher poly count and more detailed textures than blizzard. The art style of blizzard on WoW is a cartoony style, to mirror the Warcraft series that many people seem to forget ever existed :

Blizzard Entertainment - WarCraft III

Warcraft 3 looks exactly as intended (which is the cartoony style) because the director wanted it so. Same reason why FFXI looks less cartoony and more influenced by a realistic nature.

FFXI was designed when they were still in the mood of making more humanoid FFs such as FF7/8/10 (9 doesn't count as they intentionally went back to try and pull nostalgic heart strings).

I was making the comparison to textures on, WoTLK compared to a 6+ yr old PS2 game, thats all. WoW is far far superior looking on a decent PC then FFXI. You can call it cartoony, but the drawdistance, distance textures, and well pretty much everything look incredible in wow in comparison - and thats without registry edits. I guess I don't notice the cartoony part anymore, although I used to when I was a ffxifgt.

Sure I'd prefer a Fafnir model over a sartharion, but, I can jump in wow. So there.
