my point above was not to compare sky equip with homam, and i recognize that the goal of homam/nashira was to fill out the void left by sky equip. the point i was trying to make is that not every task will have a "ZOMG 1337" item for every job at the end of it. what's blm get from kirin or sky in general? z mitts which unless HQed are fairly well eclipsed by morg hands.

on the other hand this was not meant as a rationalization for keeping sch/dnc out of salvage gear. i'd love to see sch on morg (marduk doesn't make that much sense to me imo, woop de doo healing skill) and dnc on skadi and i think it's reasonable. i'm merely refuting the argument that they should be on it because they go to the event but don't get anything from it. hell, how many marduk pieces would a smn or whm reasonably wear? now you'd never in your right mind take a smn to salvage, but that's beside the point. the lack of high quality endgame gear for sch and a readymade set in morg armor (same for dnc in skadi) is a far more compelling reason to add the job to those sets than any other argument imo.

to rerail 1st floor frog is pretty much dead now i suppose. it was handy for trying to knock out 15's so we didn't have to farm them later and lose time for other frogs but them's the breaks i guess. i don't see anyone being banned for popping it via logout for the simple reason that logging out at least at current shows up as the prescribed and ONLY method suggested on ffxiwiki (even though it doesn't work anymore.) considering the habit of GMs to direct players to "community sites" which SE has given an official stamp of approval to ffxiwiki for reasons beyond my comprehension it lands credibility to the argument that players "believed that was how it was supposed to work." while this is in no way a guarantee SE won't do something stupid and try to lash out at those players, it does imo reduce the chances.

as for killing jakko, that shouldn't take much time and is really of no consequence i should think. besides, it gives me all sorts of opportunities to make jokes about silver gloves, dancing zombies, and petting zoos in backyards. SHA-MONE!

Marduk in general is pretty lol for anything other than BRD, with the exception of the feet. Everyone I know seems to think I'd spooge myself over the hands for WHM, but seriously?

head is decent for smn. feet are OK but since they're ssr drop, nashira feet way easier to get. hands are standing gear for whm or brd and good for negating DoT from sublimation, but orochi nodowa is easier and cheaper. legs are decent, but oracle's pants make them obsolete. body is OK for a brd and useless for anyone else. shadow coat should be almost as good or better depending for enfeebling. all in all, it's a lackluster set at best excepting head/legs for brd which are exceptional.

Marduk Head, legs and feet are nice elemental siphon macro pieces too

hands are nice for not having to stoneskin for sublimation, althought far from necessary.

Marduk is an improvement in every area for WHM except Cure Potency. - Enmity, MND, MP, Skill +, Fast Cast. Roundel Earring is nice to have with this set, and you can always swap equip for cures if you want. If you can look at Marduk's Crackows and actually say those aren't the best feet for WHM, easily, then you don't play WHM.

Also, I hope SCH never gets on Salvage gear. Why? Because I hate them.

any endgame smn worth their own effort should want at least tiara, if not feet and legs too, tiara is about as much mp as zenith(depending on race), and the most skill for its slot. legs and feet are debatable, especially since oracle's pants and nashira crackows are easier to get, they are just really +mp, but it doesnt discount them from being really solid pieces.

as for smn in salvage, i've had some uses.

For WHM, the feet are awesome, yes (<3 mine). The other pieces can be replaced with others and not notice any large difference. The legs are pure shit for WHM. The hands can be replaced with blessed/+1/AF1+1. The head is good for things like Repose etc. but for a Cure V set, the AF1+1 head is better. The body is only good for things like Stoneskin, Haste etc.

The only useful pieces for a WHM are really the feet and to some extent the head. That's 2/5 pieces, so you can't really say the set is good for a WHM. You're a lol WHM if you have the full set and not an aristocrat's coat, which is a far superior body piece.

You're not a lolWHM in Marduk. The biggest thing that pushed the need for max Cure Potency was MP efficiency. With /SCH, MP efficiency is better than it has ever been for WHM. You get an additional 10% Fast Cast, so it just depends on if you want Fast Cast or Cure Potency. For a merit party or something, I could see you not really needing the Cure Potency. Roundel Earring also makes this a little more doable. But yeah, I did point out that you can easily swap it in for Cures. For every other spell, the Fast Cast can help.

I would rather have Marduk hands than Blessed +1 personally, I can hit the haste cap without any +1 gear if I wanted to. The Regen is nice to have for Sublimation, which I use basically nonstop. I would rather have that over 1 or 2 seconds off my recast.

Yeah, overall the Marduk set is not a huge upgrade like the other sets, fine, I can concede that. But it's not a bad set. If only they put Cure Potency, or even hMP on it, I would be happier.

Do you not keep Stoneskin up with Sublimation or something? Seeing as you still can't rest without Stoneskin up, uhh, seems like just trying to counteract Sublimation without stoneskin up is rather pointless.

As for Fast Cast...outside of Cures, what do you actually prefer Fast Cast to haste on? I'd prefer lower recast on Haste to faster-casting haste. I'd prefer a lower recast on Regen to a faster casting Regen. The only spells that Fast Cast is better on are cures, which you should easily be hitting the tier with any various # of methods (cure cast time merits, cure clogs, /sch).

Do remember also that if you're running some sort of haste rotation, dropping 2-3 sec off each haste = 1 extra mp tick when you rest at the end of it.

Not really. Marduk is really trash for SMNs. The Evoker's Horn (+1) has as much Summoning skill as as the tiara, and there are easier pieces to get for the feet and legs.

The only real advantage that Marduk has for SMN is the % MP boost, which is great if you're a Galka or an Elvaan.

Call me old fashioned, but I still prefer SMN or BLM as my SJ when I am on WHM. Sure, the 10% casting speed and Sublimination could be nice, but at least I can get refresh AND /heal when my tank is full and doing a good job of mitigating damage. Then again, I don't do a whole ton on WHM right now and pretty much run around full time BST except when doing Einherjar which I only started this week.

You don't have to use Sublimation as /sch...

Sch gives 10% casting speed, 10% off recast timers, 10% passive mana reduction cost on everything, a half-cost spell once every 2 minutes just from Light Arts/Stratagem Use.

Summoner gives 1mp/3sec. That equals out to 40mp every 2 minutes. If you spend 400mp per 2 minutes, then passive Light Arts ties that. If you use 1 half cost strategem on a cure4 once every 2 minutes, that alone saves 44mp. BTW, Scholar also gets Conserve MP.

Black Mage gives Conserve MP. So does Scholar. Black Mage gives Bind/Sleep and ES. You are honestly subbing for Bind/Sleep and ES. For the record, a Samurai can land a Sleep on most mobs with BLM sub and ES, but you'd call a sam/blm gimp...because he has far superior subs that actually help him. With the addition of Repose, Sleep isn't a big deal (and besides, sch can still even get access to that with a stratagem use).

Past all that, scholar gives dispel with a stratagem use. Gives you the ability to hop into dark arts, get 256 dark skill and actually make use of aspir (unlike /blm, where your aspir is garbage). It gives sublimation (which, you have the option to ignore if your rdm wants to refresh you...sublimation can also be prestored to give a large boost to your mp early in the fight once you spend some, then you can fall back to refresh even). It also gives a passive bonus to your enfeebling skill of +31 while in either arts, making it much easier to land slow/paras.

For MP, Scholar is the superior sub with no questions. It has ~5 (passive reduction, conserve mp, 50% off cost once per 2min, aspir once per minute, sublimation) different aspects to mana management/efficiency, any 1 of those 5 ties either other subjob (at worst) on it's own. All 5 together is ridiculous. You give up a few small things in versatility (escape, tractor, warp, ES, blinkga) and gain other things (sleep immunity without poison pots, dispel, far far superior ability to recover from a wipe/raise people quickly, fast cast, mana efficiency/management).

wait what? you are a dumbass.

tiara is +7. evokers horn, evoker's horn hq, and elite beret hq are only +5. you literally need tiara if you want to cap skill.

the rest of your post is just repeating what i said, and saying they suck because of it, which is a stupid reason. effort or not, they are still arguably the best pieces for those slots skillwise compaired to other, easier to get pieces.
