Playable Joker? PS3? Blahhhh.
Something tells me that *gasp* there will be a difficulty setting. Since when does a game exclude that at this point, especially of this nature?
Difficultly settings are usually meaningless. If we are lucky we will have easy-normal-hard = easy and insane/hell/nightmare = hard... but we will probably need to beat the first(sometimes twice for bitchass games where you need to unlock hard) to get to the good stuff. Insane mode is often broken anyway that's its point.
I don't find multiple difficulty modes comforting because the whole battle mechanics altogether...
Spamming X with easy stuns and counters on easy mode will still be spamming X with easy stuns and counters on hard mode.Originally Posted by Kwijiboe

Considering the meat of the gameplay from what I can gather is the stelath that's where the difficulty is likely to lie anyway. Combat in stealth games where you're not supposed to drag everything out shouldnt be excessively hard to keep up or maintain. That's what games like DMC attempt to accomplish. Also, difficulty settings in games as of lte have actually affected the game to a very noticeable degree. Start off on the hardest setting at first and if anything unlocks afterwards then try it out.
I am still eagerly awaiting stealth mechanics.
The only video I've bothered to watch so far showed you flying all around a room over the heads of a bunch of apparently completely idiotic guards. I don't believe anyone, fictional or not is that completely unaware of their surroundings. Especially when people start dying all over the area, they don't think to maybe... look around for whoever is kicking their ass? I don't have much hopes for the AI at all, but the game does still look like it could be fun in short bursts. I'll wait til it's cheap if I decide to pick it up at all.
Is there a downloadable demo yet?
Pac-man ghosts are so stupid, they should just team up together and gank you in a corner.
Why does it matter if the AI act stupid? A realistic AI doesn't make a better game. As long the mechanics offer you a challenge, and give you the possibility to improve your skill, it's fine.
agreed.Pac-man ghosts are so stupid, they should just team up together and gank you in a corner.
Mildly retarded AI is fine in something like an action game, but when the enemies make no effort to actually find you in stealth games or segments it kind of defeats the point. More power to you if you can enjoy having your hand held through a game, but I like to actually be challenged by my games.
Metal gears solid 1 and 2 had very predictable AI, but did it make the game less fun? Not for me. The difficulty level isn't only determined by the AI. Almost every gameplay element factor in, and in the end it's rarely what make the game fun or not.
Either way, challenge doesn't always come from surviving/reaching the end. Many games use a score system, and performing well is the challenge.
Of course, this game could very well blow, but saying "stupid AI=easy/boring game" isn't true generally.
Can't compare PS1 games to current generation. I'm sure you can call out stuff like PS1 limitations, ect... and MGS was awesome at the time because it was the first game of it's type. Can't roll out the MGS1 formula for a current gen game w/o shouting out the dev's for being lazy and relying on the "franchise" to sell the game.
In the long run it may not hamper your enjoyment of the game too much, but I expect more out of AI in today's games. And frankly, if the AI is so bad at finding you when your killing them left and right because they can't look to the ceiling if they don't spot you on the ground first... then I highly doubt their ability to fight is gonna be well balanced and dependent on your actions
Umm have you guys played this yet? Cause you sure seem like you know wtf you're talking about. Its very possible that the people showing it off are on easy mode so they can string together a decent video. And either way the enemies didn't look that damn retarded.
Delayed until end of summer this year. ;_;
Otherwise, nice to hear I'm finally getting exclusive content on my PS3 with regards to a damn multi-platform product.
Boo delay! I was looking forward to having something new to play relatively soon. =(
fuck me sideways
