Trying to swap a video card from an integrated pos

I'm not sure what info you guys need, but lemme know & I'll provide it. . . But basically I've tried in the device manager to scan for hardware changes and its not finding it. It's in the slot correctly and doesn't need any extra plugs.

I don't know the exact type of video card as I got it from a friend, however the computer it was in before is almost the same as mine so I'm doubting its a compatibility issue. Let me know what info you'd need to help me out here and I'd happily accept any assistance.

Assuming you've physically put in the new GPU, you need to go into your BIOS and disable the onboard from in there, rather than in Windows. After you've done that, Windows should recognise the new card and ask for drivers etc

I just disabled the integrated video card, and windows still doesn't recognize the new one, it's not showing up in the device manager and plugging it directly into the card doesn't allow the monitor to turn on

What kind of card is it? Is it an AGP and you have PCI enabled, or vice-versa? Chipset drivers up to date?

Like I said the video card was just handed to me by a friend, so I don't know much about it. Damn thing doesn't even have a brand sticker. This is what I found written on stickers on the card:

    HD3450 256M DDR2 PCI-E VGA/TVO/DVI-I

    PN 188-08E40-013SA SKU#1125-00

    A08990103949

    And these not on stickers:

    SH94V-O
    E248779

I installed the 64-bit version you linked there. . . but it doesn't seem to have any effect. It says the install was successful, however no files at all are in the ATI Technologies folder, where it says it installed. Basically it looks to have installed a bunch of files except the actual exe. The new video card still doesn't show up in the device manager as well

EDIT: It seems the install manager only installs the install manager x.x

In those links click the "Catalyst Software Suite" link, it should give you an .exe that will do everything for you. Just make sure you uncheck the free WoW trial and one other thing they package in there.
