I'm allgergic to Penicillin. Therefore it is a terrible invention/advancement.
Hubble Telescope, The Chandra X-ray Observatory and the WMAP imaging Satellites. The entire field of Cosmology as a whole has grown in leaps and bounds since the mid 90's.
No question about it. These satellites have given up endless sight both into the past as well as into the future in regards to how our wonderful cosmos works and why. Soon we will be adding the Kepler telescope to that list, it's goal is to find, identify and study exo-planets that reside within the habitable zones of other Galaxies and add to the list of 350+ planets and Sun like stars we have already discovered in the past decade.
I just wish Carl Sagan were still around to see this![]()

Nuclear Power. Once everyone gets over the OMG MELTDOOOOOOOOOWN! stage, it'll be hella useful.
To add to this: My vote goes to Fusion Power, once a stable, self-sustaining reaction is possible. It's still a way's off, but god damn we're getting close. Soon, we will harness the power of the sun (...in his pants)! ;o
