Eh they had tons of people working on it bringing in rookies and what not. Also they were under a pretty short deadline for the amount they needed. The whole crew was exceptionaly stressed and under pressure. My friends were telling me that people were getting chewed out left and right and fired very quickly. They filmed alot of the close shots in downtown ABQ and the city was trying to push them out kinda quickly.
So who knows what the situation was, myb they were trying to finish the last shots of the night and they needed to finish really soon, thus dude keeps fuckin with bale and he flips. Like i said in a sit. like that if they dont make it, that means they have to reschedule the entire next day which cost tons of money to do so.

But as for the shooting, I missed on workin on it cuz of classes. But downtown was sweet when they had it all riged up with protechnics.
But I'm not worried i'll get my chance, its going to be a trilogy, T5 starts soon^^

I've worked on a number of sets too, and while I've seen people get seriously dressed down before, usually it's by producers. For a while I was confused - wondering "when is a producer or director or (especially) assistant director going to jump in, take Bale's side and finish what he started...and then I heard Bale say "DP" and was like...oh.

He was yelling at the director of photography, Shane Hurlbut - who has to be feeling particularly shitty since this is by far the biggest film he's ever DP'ed. But then again, his name is Hurlbut, so I'm sure he's heard worse.

Kind of hilarious. But yeah, when you're doing those 14 hour days and 90-hour weeks sometimes, this will happen. I flipped my shit on an assistant editor once when I was post supervising a show, it's not particularly fun.

Though I can kind of see how the stress can get to an actor, he's only human. When you're really pissed at a guy, or just plain hate their guts the emotions will spew. I've never been on a set, but just seeing what goes into making a movie can seem overwhelming.

I fail to see how this clip was any more of a waste of your time than reading 95% of the posts on these forums. This is not news to you yet look at how much time you waste posting in inane topics on this forum? I don't come here for news, not sure why you would expect that I post something universally newsworthy.

To someone interested in T4, this is legitimate because the studio sent the recording to its insurance company as a safety net in case Bale backed out of the movie; perhaps implying that troubles on the set run deeper than just this 3 minute sound byte.

CNN posted it front page this morning as well with a discussion of further implications.

I'm not sure anyone in Hollywood will be surprised by the eruption, except perhaps by its duration. Bale is known as a serious actor and a serious guy (did you see what he did to himself for "The Machinist"?) and his temper has been an issue before, at least if you believe his mother and sister and their account of his behavior last year. (I've never met the guy; I have talked to him on the phone but it was a brief interview and not very revealing, but I'm a big fan of his work, especially in "Harsh Times," "The Prestige" and "3:10 to Yuma.")

There's a lot of pressure in making a major blockbuster and any project as dark and intense as "Salvation" can take the cast into some pretty edgy places. Still, it's hard to listen to this rant and think of the guy as a healthy, mature adult. The bottom line? Bale certainly won't win any friends in the industry by savagely insulting a professional in front of a crowd. But, sadly, it's just as certain that as long as Bale remains the famous face on all the movie posters, people will put up with the abuse.

Other than making excellent material for YouTube remixes, I think everything has been pretty much said.

But one thing I don't understand, for those who are experienced with being on the set of a film, could you tell me what you're supposed to do by "not being in direct eye-sight" of an actor while filming. Is there a common idea of how far your supposed to be away from the actor? Are you supposed to hide, leave the room or stay behind the director?

It just makes them more empathetic and that is a little sigh of relief for normal people too =)
