No they didn't expect anyone to log off, and I have already explained how to not get hit by Astral Flow. Logging of was more to keep PW off of us while we killed the lamps than to dodge AF, as I know exactly how to do that so it hits just one person.

Arguing semantics. He says logging to avoid AF, you say logging to avoid being rushed by PW and his repoped lamps, either way you have to logout, am I right?

I seriously doubt it was the intended way to kill, but it was a legitimate kill nonetheless. My guess is there is some obscure way to skip some, but not all forms. Possibly the hint on which forms cannot be skipped is in the lootpool.

skipping forms is not the problem at ALL, easily to get to final from with 40min-1hr left. The main problem is astral flow x8 that keeps going until all are dead. so if there is any trick , it would have to be effecting the final form only.

although a smart way todo would be to do something in each form that lessen how powerful the last form would be. for example you have to steal something in each form such as " pandiminum skull" and with each skull taken, the amount of lamps and avatars get lowered. now thats clever!

I'm sure adding an extra 30-40 mins to final form by skipping others would help winning without logging out and zombie cannonball. Of course that will still be the easiest way even with more time if you have blus that don't mind dumping a ton of exp.

unless you're calling Blue Mage, the job itself, a relic weapon, which at times it really can act like one... then maybe you might be on the right page

they beat PW because they have tanks, mages and DDs with max gear and merits!

if they didnt had this kind of gear or merits they wouldnt be able to take down all other forms so fast so the BLUs can take a major role the last form.

You are being naive thinking any LS with 40 ppl and 5 BLU can take on PW, if u get 100 random 75 ppl with AH/sky/dynamis gear i bet you will lose miserably on the 1st (maybe 2nd) form.

this kind of challenge requires all best equipment from ffxi and a shitload of merits and after that you still need coordination and strategy.

Are you serious about gears? With the exception of tanks that need good gears in those fights (double crit/ws happens fast), I'm pretty sure you could win with a bunch of setup.

Coordination is the important (and hardest) parts in those fight, not gears.

My point was you do not have to log off to both avoid AF, and defeat PW. My point is with enough support, and tanks you could keep from logging, but one thing I will tell you is tanking PW with no lamps at all is not easy in itself. PW has instant cast gaIII so you take: AoE curse > gaIII while tank is cursed which is easily possible, and happened several times, the tank is dead. No questions asked, and this is without MDB down on. It is much more possible with the support and tanks we had to take PW out of the picture while killing the lamps. I posted exactly how AF can be avoided, and when I tried it, it worked perfectly.
